The recent Mario Karts have been introducing one cool mechanic after another. In Mario Kart 7 the karts are able to glide, while in Mario Kart 8 it seems they can defy gravity:eek:

What cool feature are you expecting will be next in Mario Kart 9 and beyond?

Hoping Mario Kart 9 (also hoping they get rid of numbers) brings back the Double Dash gameplay.

Also...

Mario Kart 64 - 3D Gameplay Introduced
Mario Kart Double Dash - Two players in one kart
Mario Kart Super Circuit - First Handheld Mario Kart
Mario Kart DS - Online Play
Mario Kart Wii - Bikes
Mario Kart 7 - Gliders/Underwater Racing/Kart Customization
Mario Kart 8 - Anti gravity Gameplay

Yeah, I'm with you on that. I really liked the Double Dash gameplay because it allowed two players to ride on the same kart and thus be a team. They definitely need to bring that back.

Just watch as for whatever reason they start introducing air vehicles into the game for no apparent reason later on in the series when they run out of ideas

Mario Kart 9 should be able to Change the terrain in a way so you can make opponents go a bit slow.

Certain tracks do have different terrain. For example, this one Waluigi's Stadium had mud areas that made you go slower if you got stuck in them. Changing the overall terrain would be a bit overkill.

Only for opponents and for a temporary period of time.

Mario Kart 9 could feature dynamic environments with breakable and transformable parts. You can also use the environment to disrupt the movement of karts and items. For example, if you can maneuver yourself beneath a certain tree branch, then you can block an incoming blue shell and force it to explode and destroy the tree (which would then fall on top of you if you don't move out in time). I think that would make each race more varied and exciting.

theres a lot of things that could be added in the next mario kart... firstly I hope that they get rid of the numbers for sure, because really, how creative are numbers? ;P Anyways with that said, features? I seriously have no idea haha ;P Theres a number of things really, but I really can't think of anything good that they haven't added (wish I had a Wii U to try out that defying gravity trick ;P) Nintendo should just leave Mario Kart alone and stop changing it sooooo much, just leave it the way it is, everyone loves it. But I guess if they didn't change it no one would buy different versions and they would lose money, so scratch that actually

Hopefully they call it Mario Kart Unlimited and stop with the numbers and give the game more unique names instead of putting the versions there , I'd also like them to make guns in the next game but that will be just too violent for kids , probably able to do tricks in the air while gliding and there will be wind blowing you while you are gliding with the kart.

That would be a great idea. (Pshht, Sell your idea to Nintendo :p)
You could also use a power-up you obtained to destroy a wall or a certain object, which would make it difficult for an opponent to pass through. Or you could use it to create shortcutsin the track, which would allow you to skip a part of a track.

MK9 might be a mix of F-Zero and MK with the inclusion of Nitro and the key to it is going as fast and precise as possible but you still get the same MK items and drifting/drafting. That and it would be neat to add an old school feature that makes the game characters look like their sprite forms from the SNES. That or turning your kart into a mini mecha that can shoot other players and it runs on multiple terrains but is slightly slower and has the worst acceleration. And reading the ideas above it would be neat if you could do a trick in midair to throw a shell right back at the person who used the item so people can master the Blue Shell Backlash. It would make the game much cooler looking and very intense.

I hereby support the idea of the Blue Shell backlash :D
And yeah, the changeable terrain thing would be pretty cool. Just imagine it...

"You throw a bomb between two destroyable pillars and race by before it explodes, holding X to look back as the roof collapses down on two unsuspecting racers. The rest, lagging behind for various reasons, are forced to take an arduous detour, only widening the gap between you and them. Smirking slightly to yourself as you navigate through a spinning Item Block, you watch the roulette wheel carefully and let out a triumphant yell as it gives you a Green Shell."

"The emerald projectile rockets away from your hand, sliding smoothly between the moving shields placed there by the course builders to smack into the blinking red button. The bridge to your left quickly rotates into place and you accelerate on, coming off the other side just before it swivels back into place to prevent pursuit."

Maybe they could introduce the underground mechanic that was originally planned for Mario Kart 8.For those who don't know, the mechanic would have drills on front of the karts to go under earth, but later on,was replaced by the anti-gravity system.I think that it could work.

Mario Kart 9 might be released in few years on the new 3DS. When I first heard it, I was excited! I wonder what Mario Kart 9 will look like?
