I mean, what if NX has 2 parts, which are handheld AND home? I know its a crazy idea but who knows? Maybe it can happen. What do you guys think? Will it be?

Now that I think of it, N could be a handheld and X could be a console (or vice-versa). That would be pretty cool except that N3DS just recently came out :/ but I like the idea of it. If it's real..

2np2016 you EXACTLY read my mind I had the EXACT same thought in my mind (same brains :p) But the chances are very unlikely cuz they have said they will release a console named NX. anything can happen, though, with nintendo, you never know.

That would certainly be interesting if the NX had 2 parts which is a handheld and home :p That'd be pretty unique if it had like some sort of connecting parts or something like that and I would certainly like the idea of being both home and console :D But you never know :sneaky:

I only want this new Nintendo console to be home console only so it don't replace over nintendo 3ds console but if this thing is homeconsle i really want this thing to be 2 screen home console then it might be fun to play

This has come to my head many times since I've heard of the new console - If the NX was a Hybrid Console! It's definitely fun to muse about, because it's something that we can't quite wrap our minds around. However, I have a feeling that this concept is over-thinking Nintendo's intents with this new console and the direction they are taking it in.

I hope it's not something hybrid like that. Whenever things try to stop being specific, they start being less interesting in all domains.

Just an example. If you want to read, you can use an e-reader. If you want to play a game, you can use a PC. A tablet is some sort of a combination of both, except that it can't read for 8 weeks, and it can't play GTA V, it can only read for 3 hours and play GTA San Andreas.

Well same here, if it's "both handheld and home", it won't be a good handheld nor a good home.

I have been thinking of this idea for a while and i think its a really good idea!
And maybe they can make it so they can have it so you can play 3ds games on the handheld part and wii u games on the home console part, Im not sure if its gonna happen, But if it did it would be awesome!
Hopefully We'll see something at e3 2016 about the NX

I can see something like that happening

Maybe they could do something with the Wii U and the GamePad integrated in the NX, but to a much better use than an extra screen

That would be nice.

It would make sense, seeing as how the next Nintendo handheld would have to be in HD and with NX coming after Wii U, you would expect for Nintendo to improve on the Gamepad instead of abandoning it immediately, seeing as how they've invested a lot into this and would like to make it more of an essential feature and portrayed less as a gimmick - they failed to show off it's usefulness with Wii U, but with a more powerful NX capable of a lot more, with greater third party support, it's possible that they can transform the Gamepad into what would be remembered as a truly great controller. Also, by having the handheld and console use what would most likely be a mostly-unified library, they can focus on getting as many games as possible out there.

That being said, Hayleia's point on the hybrid not being exceptional at one style of game console is what could be a major worry for Nintendo. In addition to that, you would think that with their second console coming out, they would be much better at producing HD games in a smaller amount of time and so can start to get more first-party games out, with their third-party games filling in any gaps... although with a HD handheld and a HD console released, perhaps it would become a lot harder and way more tough to produce a certain amount of games with the same high quality that Nintendo can put out in a certain amount of time.

Well, like anyone here could read from my rants before xD I think it should be a portable that can optionally connect to TV, really.

Ninty needs to stop it's gimmicks, it was good for the Wii and DS, those were the good kind of gimmicks, 3D, the gamepad and possibly a hybrid console are the bad kind of gimmicks

That sounds like a very interesting concept! Sort of like how you can play some Wii U games on the gamepad, you might be able to play NX games on a portable part! I wonder if that means that the console part would also act as a charging port for it.
This might mean that some games might only be playable on the handheld or console part because there would need to be separate items containing the game's data for the handheld and console. However, games may have to be download only through something like the eShop, and download onto both pieces, which would make sense.
It seems like an interesting concept that could work with the right specifications.
