What is a good low rank armor set to use?

I'm getting Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate in a few days and was wondering what armor to go after first off and which monsters to start farming. I appreciate the help^~^

Great Jaggi armor is a good beginning set, I have seen a lot of people with Tetsucabra, Kecha, and Nerscylla.

Well for low wank I've seen most people use Tetsu-chan's skin as protection.

like @Raptor the Seabear said, it would help if we knew which weapon you were gonna use. for example, you wouldn't want any of the guard skills on the DBs, but you probably would with a lance/gunlance.

I plan on using hammers and lances so anything that might have gaurd up or knock out perks.

most of the good armor for the hammer isn't until HR, so you'll probably just wanna go with tetsu for then. for the lance, 1 of the best LR sets for it is the Barroth set, since it's the only LR set with guard +1 and both atk and def up s. if you want a more defensive lance set, go with the gravios set. it gives guard +1, but gets rid of atk s for an easier def m and guard +2. (btw you can get barroth stuff from the wyporium for gypceros stuff after you beat the quest "nerscylla thrylla")
EDIT: def up s on the barroth armor takes 2 basic def gems to get

IMO only start evade lancing once you get to the end of high rank. Low rank lancing is brutal. So many people tripped me for nothing, and they said I was useless in the team :-:

I would say that either the kencha waka or the testubacrabra armour. Also when you get gear look at the top left of the screen. If you are a gunner the the set that says gunner. If you are anything else you should get the blade master set. That's what I believe is a good starter set.

It depends on what kind of set look, skills, and RES. points you are looking for. If you want to hunt in style, my choice would be gore armor, with a gore CB(Charge blade is my main weapon, but you use whatever you want). Just beware NEVER go against a fire elemental monster with ANY gore based armor, as the fire resistance can be as bad as -40. I LOVE zinogre(as you can see from my prof.pic) and his armor looks great, and its pretty strong as far as beginner armors go. If you pair that armor with the zinogre DB's(made from buying the twin chainsaws and upgrading) you can hunt in style and still be well defended. Nerscylla is a very good armor as well. (Low rank Nerscylla is the lowest version of the SnS character in the demo.) Pair that up with either the Nerscylla sword and shield (Sleep element) or Insect glaive (poison element) and you will be pretty strong as far as low rank players go. In my opinion, low rank Kecha wacha looks lame but it is an OK armor, i just would never use it because im one of those guys that HAS to hunt in style AND be the best there is.
