What type of mario games do you prefer? Easy or Hard?

New ones are great in short bursts for fun. Old ones (aka Lost Levels) are great for longer playthroughs. The real question is are you a platform purist into almost impossible tool assisted Super Mario World/Mario Maker challenge or are you into the classic SMB stuff.

The newer Mario games I find really easy. I love going back and playing some of the harder games. The challenge makes it fun and thats why I am really losing interest in newer Mario games.

I totally agree.

I actually prefer either one because both are great games. Both easy and hard games are fun, but both at different times. Sometimes the new games seem a little too easy, and that's when I prefer an older game. But when I die on world 8-3 and rage quit, then I play the easier games. It ends up being a pretty continuous cycle between old and new, but I rally can't get over toad running ahead and killing everyone else in super mario 3D world. XD but anyway I could not choose a definitive side on this topic.

I prefer the new easy mario games. They have much better graphics than the older games. I do not like playing hard games because I just end up giving up on it. I also hate having to restart levels again and again on the old games too. I will just stick to the newer games so I can beat the game without getting angry.

Games as a whole were better when they were more difficult. None of the SMBs are particularly challenging except maybe 2j and that's more trial and error than anything, but on the whole a harder game tends to be more satisfying. Challenge is a unique thing in the medium that no other form of media exactly has. Challenge is an integral part of video games.

On the other hand, NSMB with other people is a blast and easy games like Kirby and Chrono Trigger are still amazing.

I enjoyed the recent SMB games, even if they were quite easy, but there's nothing like a good challenge and struggling to get past a level, until suddenly it clicks and you finish it - you feel like an invincible god, and that's one of the best parts of a hard game. Feeling as if you just made the impossible possible.

Like playing Super Mario World, where it looks like the level design is supposed to troll you, or Donkey Kong where one small mistake takes away a valuable life... I have to say, the old way of Nintendo platformers was fantastic.

I'm starting to think all Nintendo (if not all) video games thay started a while back are getting easier and easier to win at. I enjoy playing the new mario games with new features and cool graphics, but it doesn't provide a challenge. I play the older ones from time to time so I can actually have a challenge for myself xP

Newer mario games aren't always easy. cough cough "Champion Road" cough cough 3D world gets really hard after a while, and the older games, yeah, I do prefer the newer games because of the play style and 3d worlds. And the older games might be a little easy for me.

Strangely enough, I really like the new Mario games :p While they might be- in most ways -easier than the old classic ones, they sure have some really good challenges once in awhile and new fun mechanics to make a more light-hearted (as I suppose) game. Not to mention other improves aspects of the new games.

I like SOME of the new Mario games, galaxy for example was a great example of a new mario game, so were some others. I do prefer the older ones overall due to the raised difficulty. I really like challenges, as well as some of the older mechanics to be honest, the new games arnt terrible..

I actually like challenges in Video Games, and the old Mario games where one of them. I remember when I played the GBA remake of Mario Bros 3 when I was younger. Back then, it was hard, no kidding. Now a days, the difficulty has been lowered to be aimed at younger audiences, which is okay.
