I think the game " Mario Kart 7 " is one of the best Mario games in history..., becauze it is a game that requires stretegy and it' s fun because you can custimize your own kart, and you get to battle/ or race with your own Mii , and another coolthing is you get to battle/ or race on line with other people accros the World.Another cool thing is you get to create a community for you and other people to play with you.
P.S. This is my opinion...

I think Bowser's Inside Story and Dream Team (they're Mario & Luigi RPG games) are well up there. You may want to go for Dream Team as it was designed for 3DS, but that's up to you. I'd recommend looking into these games

I like super mario 3d land. if you like 3d games then this is a good one for you. but if you like rpgs then mario and luigi dream team is a game you will like. but if you want to race then mario kart 7 is a good one
 
Mario RPG's are good such as Bowser Inside Story and Dream Team. Mario Kart 7 might be the best Kart game out there. If you lik Adventure then Super Mario 3D Land looks fun. Quick Question: Can Wii U be included in this conversation? If so New Super Mario Bros U/New Super Luigi Bros and Super Mario 3D World seems good imo.
 
If you have 3ds this christmas buy Mario Kart 7, you can have a lot of fun with this game and you can battle with other people all around the world if you have wireless connection, trust me this game is better than Super Mario 3D Land.

only problem with Mario Kart 7 is that I feel it's more likely to get boring quickly after a while. Mario RPG games and 3D Land have large single player though, so it depends on personal preference for type of game.
 
Trust me, Mario Kart 7. The online multiplayer is still fun and I can play it everyday without getting bored. I have had it for two years and I still use the online multiplayer feature on it. It's amazing.

If you like racing games you should choose Mario Kart 7 but there are other great Mario games like Mario dream team , but the best Mario game is actually super Mario 3d world but sadly it's only on the Wii U

Yeah, to add on to what JunZhi it's all a matter of personal preference. Go for the Mario game that's closer to the type of game you like. If you're an RPG guy go for Mario & Luigi RPG games. If you're a racing guy, go for Mario Kart 7. etc.

Dream Team by far if you like RPGs. Mk7 is fun, but if you play it as much as I have the luck gets aggravating (900hrs). Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon isn't bad, if you liked the first one. Unfortunately, its online is filled with trolls and rqers which makes it almost unplayable without friends.

Online play for many games is typically full of trolls unless the company controls it somehow. Not much you can do about that sadly. I mean, there's the hackers on Call of Duty multiplayer and all :p

Yeah, but on LMDM it's practically impossible to live with. You start a scarescraper and one guy quits, and the rest follow. Or you get close to the end and half the people ditch you and you can't beat the boss. So annoying. It's easy to deal with trolls in Mk7 at least.

The first Super Mario Bros. will always be the best game in the whole franchise ever. It redefined gaming.
