What was your "Gateway" Anime? Mine were either Naruto or Dragon ball z. I got introduced by watching Tsunami network, and one day it gave dbz and then Naruto. I was so interested right away so I watched those ones until Tsunami got canceled. I then decided to look beyond Tsunami and found that there were much more anime. Ever since I've watched tons of it!

I think my gateway anime(s) were Naruto and Deathnote.

Naruto was the anime that made me realized I liked anime, :3 The ninja aspect of that show I found really cool and detailed so I tried to find more anime similar to it but gave up real fast. I think I watched Deathnote randomly out of nowhere and really liked it. I liked it sooo much that I needed to find another anime similar to it or I was gonna suffer >.<)/ I eventually failed and started watching other stuff that I found interesting.

I loved Naruto just the whole concept of it was great. Every time I watched it I was just hyponotized into it

I have a kinda strange experience with this one, i had always watched dragon ball z when i was a kid but that only counted as a cartoon show i didn't know what anime was...when i got to around 6th grade i started watching a random channel and it was showing kaichou wa maid-sama and Baka and teast summon the beast both shows have heavy sexual refrences and to a 6th grader i couldn't for the life of me understand what girls were doing when they had their hands up against their chests or why guys were randomly popping nose bleeds..

I amashamed to have to say that mine was T-To... Tokyo... Mew Mew. And I didn't even get the plot :hilarious:

I liked Ichigo best wheee~

I also watched Anime series like Pokémon, Dragonball Z and Naruto, of course, but the first Anime i watched (when I was really aware that i was watching Anime) was Tokyo Mew Mew. I had to stop the video like every 5 seconds because I couldn't read the subtitles that fast... xD

Even though I know my 1st anime was probably Dragonball Z, I consider my gateway into anime to either be Fooly Cooly or Full Metal Alchemist (2oo3). With FLCL, I was so memorized by it even though I was too young to comprehend it (and arguably too young to even be watching it) which made me revisit it over the years, even when I would stop watching anime for long periods of time, I'd inevitably come back to it because of Fooly Cooly. With FMA, it was the 1st anime I saw that wasn't strictly action oriented, it's tone was much more dramatic especially in comparison to it's later counterpart Brotherhood (Or as I like to refer to it as, "Bro From Da Hood") and made me realize that the medium had much more to offer.

I would say Pokémon, Yu Yu Hakusho, Dragon Ball Z, and One Piece.

Dragon Ball Z.

Though because Dragon Ball is so drastically different from modern anime, I'd go with either Naruto or Death Note.

My gateway anime started with Sailor Moon, Sakura Card Captors, Pokémon, etc. All those really old animes that used to come on long ago. Those are the ones that got me into anime.
