Mario Kart whats the story behind mario kart?

With story I mean that there at a few questions about the story which I want answered on like why do sworn rivals suddenly give up their rivalry? Why are they racing in go karts. Who makes the tracks? Those are some of the questions I have so place your answer in the comments.

And do they really give up their enmity? On the whole, I think not. They're brutal, beating each other up with blue shells and making them undergo vertebrae-shattering accidents by dropping banana peels.

They race in go-karts to see who's really the best in a slightly more fair way, I think.

Mario Kart isn't supposed to have a story though

Well, all Nintendo Characters have a fun race thats the story
And well the are all made by Nintendo like Spinnerweb said
Also it seems to be not only in the Mario Universe (judging by DLC)

To me like how the hard parts in Mario games where there are those swinging things and those ice places as well as those things which have you getting a hard time to pass were created by Nintendo and the tracks as well as spinnerweb said.They give up their rivalry because all they want to do is to win and have fun.

Nintendo created the tracks... Using their Miis, of course!

Maybe every character has their reason to smash both friends and foes alike with shells harder than rocks, blast them away with thunders and bombs, run them over, and otherwise causing them horrible, but unseenable cartoon wounds.

Maybe Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad, Daisy *list goes on* and Rosalina, you know, the 'good' characters, just want to play around, while others, like Bowser, Wario and Waluigi want either victory or the gold cups, who knows?

...Or maybe everyone got mushroom poisoning and one of them said 'let's get go-karts and imagine that there are actual tracks everywhere and start racing around while blasting each other into oblivion!' And the rest answered 'Sure, why not'

And so, Mario Kart was born xD

You know what, that was excactly the same question I had when I purchased MK8!
Then I just wondered come on!! It is mario kart!! No need of a great story behind racing kart game specially if it is accompained by such great bunch of characters!

Once upon a time, Mario got sick of Bowser stealing his beloved girlfriend Peach. He gathered everybody in the Mushroom Kingdom and told them his plan. Then he invited Bowser and made a deal with him. The Mushroom Kingdom will hold a tournament. Mario is the Blue team captain, and Bowser leads the red. After a series of tracks, the winner will be awarded a cup. A number of groups later, whoever has the most cups will get the other to do 1 thing, and they must obey. However, everyone suddenly had muscle paralysis. They found that they can only be moved by what seemed to be God's forces. In truth, it's the loyal Mario Kart players. Since nothing can be resolved, all the racers are stuck racing in that cartrdge for the rest of their lives. Because we keep playing that awesome game. Either that, or Mario decided to brainwash Bowser so he could have a rather civil game for once. But then they still keep hitting eachother with shells and bullets and stars.

I don't really think these games will ever get a story mode of sorts. I believe at one point there was a mission mode in one of them (MK7?), but as far as a Story mode goes..well even Mario Party games have story modes (most of them anyhow), so I would deem Mario Kart as one of the only series of Mario games to not have a story mode.

And I really want to keep it that way. xD

Well...obvioulsy, Bowser stole Peach again, so now they're having a race to get Peach back but she's also allowed in the race...? Which is why Bowser's castle is a course...

Mario was tired of hating bowser so together so they invited a bunch of friends togther to go go-karting. the go-kart became a violent mess, after bowser dropped a banana which cause princess peach to slip. People stole bowsers idea and began brining their own items in the go-kart races.

Mario invited friends and foes to a series of races for a change to win a trophy. Every character got hooked to the idea so they decided to put down their similarities and differences for a while. But as the activities in Mushroom Kingdom expand, Mario must continue saving Princess Peach from Bower's kidnapping. Yoshi must continue taking care of things on the Island. But from time to time, they take a break from it all and race. And the cycle continues.
