What's up with speed?

So I've been training some of my pokemon when I notice that my adamant protean greninja outspeeding my jolly talonflame. I looked at thier stats: talonflame's speed is381, while greninja only has a speed of 336. Am I just missing something, or is this a glitch of some sort?

-It was during Trick Room
-One of them had reduced/increased speed by a move or item
-Greninja was using a priority move
-Talonflame was using a negative priority move
Those 4 options are the only I can think of right now

Trick room was't in play.
I think talonflame had luck incense, and no one had speed up or down.
Greninja was using water shuriken, talonflame was useing flare blitz.

Water Shuriken deals damage and is an increased priority move

Water Shuriken is like a water type quick attack
