Why do we need DLC?
I'm sure we don't really need DLC but the addition of purchasable characters make the game more better in variety. Who wouldn't like new characters in the roster :p ? Of course I wouldn't be implying that anyone MUST buy the DLC but its just the fact that new things make the game ever more exciting :cat: Plus Nintendo may well be earning some extra money :p

not exactly true I don't really agree with dlc costing money. You make us pay 40 or 50 dollars to get a game then make us pay even more for 1 character. Am I just raging over accidentally buying Lucas instead of Ryu yes. Yes I am in fact raging over that.:(

That's just how it is with today's video games. If you want new, exclusive content, then you're going to have to pay for it via DLC. Unless they made some Limited/Game Of The Year/etc. edition of the game that comes with additional content, like Super Street Fight IV. But until something like that happens for Super Smash Bros. 4 (which many people probably own by now), you're better off paying a mere $4-$6 for characters. I mean come on, it's great that Nintendo gave people the old characters back but they're not just going to hand it over. I wish EA just gave me a Hennessey GT Venom in Need For Speed Most Wanted but they're not.

DLC is meant to be as add ons for the game. They really aren't necessary and you don't have to buy them. If you are happy with what the game includes, don't buy DLC. For example, you don't have to buy the Hyrule Castle stage or Peach's Castle stage. You can play the stages that are already unlocked. Don't feel like buying Lucas or Ryu. Well don't.

You can make your own Lucas by customizing Ness which is a lot better and I didn't say that I was mad I bought Ryu and Lucas. I wanted to buy Ryu instead of Lucas. If you calculate all the dlc for the game your paying more for the dlc then you actually paid for the game.

DLC isn't necessary. You're getting all the content in the game, and there isn't a NEED to buy the characters, as they're all clones (with the exception of Ryu, who's so complicated that he's not really fun). But since they're working on the characters AFTER they make the game, it makes sense that they charge. They spend months working on new characters after the game comes out, and that does require time and money. It's one thing if it's content that's already on the game that's locked away, then I think it should be free. But for content like stages and characters in smash, I can understand charging. And if you don't want the content, don't buy it. Simple

You could give Ness the same specials as Lucas, but it won't make it him. Remember, not all clones are that similar. Ness has a good dash attack while Lucas has better tilts. Ness is good with high percentage kills while Lucas is good with lower percentage kills. It's the same with like how Mario has speed while Dr. Mario has power. Plus, Lucas has that snake which can ledge-grabbing and grabbing easier, something Ness can't do.

Because like almost every other company out there, Nintendo is switching to cheap tactics and not giving the consumers what they want.

Cheap tactics? I don't blame them for using DLC. Why would gaming companies, let's say Treyach, spend their time making new Multiplayer and Zombie maps for people without expecting something in return? Back with the Smash 4 DLC, they are not expensive and nobody is saying you have to get them. They add nothing to the game other than being additional characters. Yes, it might be sad that these are classic characters. But again, time is spent remaking these characters and adding them into the game. And again, DLC is more than often not needed to enjoy the game to the fullest.

I understand this, but I rather enjoyed playing as Mewtwo in Melee. Did you know that his data was found in the Super Smash Brother's Brawl disc, as well already included in the SSB4 copies? You just have to pay a little more to unlock them, which quite frankly, angers me. It's another form of micro transaction. The difference with Treyach is that they're actually adding new content, whereas Nintendo is having you pay for what's already on the disc.

The only reason I not angry about it (not that I ever was) is because he's a mere 4 dollars. And better than Capcom's Street FighterxTekken which was shown to have a crapton of on-disc DLC.

That's a mere four dollars that you could use to buy something else. Like food.

That's take-out/pack of ramen/toilet paper pack money. Seriously, all you have to do is just go to a game store that sells gift cards, buy a $10 eShop card and buy MewTwo. And again, nobody is saying you have to buy them in the first place. I could do that now and have enough money left to get something some the fried chicken spot and have enough in my eShop balance to get some PokéDiamonds in Pokémon Rumble World.

Even so, it still makes me a little ticked off that I need to pay extra for stuff that's already on the disc, if I want it. It's ridiculous to think that this is even a thing. I understand that nobody is asking me to buy this, I'm just... I'm angry. As I was saying earlier, it's another form of micro-transactions, and even though it's "only a mere four dollars", Nintendo is going to profit tenfold just from that. Nintendo sold 500,000 both physical and digital copies of the game, which is roughly thirty million US Dollars. Let's halve the people that bought the physical and digital copies, and then say that they bought MewTwo. All of them. That's another one million towards Nintendo for having people pay for what's already on the disc. A quarter of a million people brings in one million dollars.
