When did you get into competitive.

When did you get into competitive battles in Pokemon? What Gen. did you get into it and are you a pro or are you still getting the hang of it? I wouldn't call myself a pro but I would call myself a worthy opponent and one who will be underestimated in the match. I also got into competitive in pokemon diamond--my first game xD even tho I'm not a pro I have had years and years to slowly learn how to play a Pokemon and teams it would fit into and the basics and quite a lot more of battling, so what do you have to say?
 
i am getting the hang of it i started on gen 6 when i entered pedia i battled some people and realized that i needed to get competitive pokemon and i started training i am still training my pro team but eh i will get there, every1 can get into competitive pokemon if they try harder

That is well said @Jotape™ a lot of the members on the pedia are very skilled in battling and are good opponents to battle and it would be a great way to practice your competitive skills and learn more combos.
 
I started battling competitively on gen 5. I was an okay battler at the time, but I didn't really understand how to breed Pokémon, so I went with whatever I captured. Earlier this year, I realized that I played incorrectly. Now, I'm a better battler than before, but I'm not the best. I still can't make a perfect team that compliments each other.
 
In my last community, everyone there LOVED competitive pokemon battling. I figured if I wanted to get popular along with everyone I would have to learn competitive pokemon. I ended up being the best person there and then they all quit pokemon for smash .-. I also got a lot better at smash because of them as well, but that's another story.
 
I wouldn't really define myself as competitive really :oops: but I started to go into it starting from Generation 5 Pokemon B/W. That time I found it really intriguing and to build a lot of competitive teams and breed the right Pokemon with the right moves and all. Back then before that I used to always think that once you reach Lv 100, you're the strongest xP :hilarious:
 
i recently joined competitive pokemon battles. I am not too good at it mainly because i do not understandd ev and iv's.
Can someone explain ev's and iv's?
I joined competitive pokemon battles because i hadd reached endd gamee and wanted to try my hand at it. I will get better at some point because practice makess perfect!
 
Well... Last year actually. I was just scrolling through the JWittz's video about EV's and Iv's and I was confused. So I did more research and found that breeding and EV training were much easier. That is why I purchased a 3DS and a copy of Omega Ruby and started the game. I knew what natures did but didn't really come around how to EV train. As a noob I bred a crap IV snivy and Super Trained it in Speed and Sp.Attack. It took a stupid 5Hours. Then my friend introduced me to 3DSpedia and the breeding shops. I ordered my first Staraptor from @Vii and it started to grow from there really.
 
Well i mostly get to into pokemon competitive battling when to come pedia well at that that i really don't know about ivs ,evs and pefect pokemon so i mostly use to order from @Vii shop i was really bad in pokemon competitive battling in beginning, i have lost againest @Marc several times (do you remember @Marc xD)not marc only many pokemon competitive players on pedia and at last i would say this is just beginning for me :)

Well i got competetive with pokemon platinum because I've got lots of friends that need defeat.
Also that's when i first watched a pokemon tournament and found out those stupid moves that didn't damage were useful.
I'm actually a lot less competetive now then back then. But I'm still capable of taking out a couple of mildly competetive players.

IV's and EV's or individual values and effort values in other words basically IV's can to up to 31 in a stat and you can separate EV's in a number 510 and 252 is the limit in a stat. Every 4 in IV's and EV's increases its stats by 1. If you want to know more there are threads, videos and websites that can give you more info.
