I either miss or my opponent just perfect shields. Any ideas?

1st even if they perfect shield they'll still be grabbed. They probably spot dodged or rolled away from your grab. I say the best time to grab is either when they miss a move that has a lot of ending lag (like Lucas's Up Smash), if they get frame locked in any way (like with Mario' Up Tilt) or if they air dodge near the ground which would cause them about 20+ frames of landing lag. It also helps to try a grab by spot dodging when the opponent tries to grab you then immediately grab them back. Works most of the time.

Oops, that's what I meant to say. "Spot Dodge." I find it hard to spot dodge when there's so much lag. (Online Mode)

The best time to spot dodge is later rather than earlier, especially in lag but you don't want to be too early and get hit instead as that is a common mishap. The best time to grab is all the time either to get combos, KO, or just to keep space in general especially online or against strong heavy characters. Shield grabs allow for easier grabs so I recommend that every time you use grab unless you want to pivot grab (dash, turn the other way and then grab button(s))

The best spot to secure a spot dodge is very situational and I don't recommend it in any way. Spot dodge can be hard to pull off unless your opponent is being predictable. But a best way to me to execute a grab is when your opponent is in ending lag. And also if they are fooled into one.

So when they spot dodge just wait like half a second and then grab. But when your opponent is just standing there just sheildjng just grab. But try to read what you opponent is gonna do then try to grab

Yeah, also when you shield stop, (run and shield afterward) and the opponent just waits for you or they attack, go then and there and grab. This is a great tactic because it is like both prediction and mind games at the same time.

Ya sheild stop is perfect. And you can perfect shield almost always with that technique! Ex: You run and sheild stop, they do a forward smash and you perfect sheild then they let go of the smash and you can easily grab

Yeah, I use that technique. But again... lag. I rarely manage to execute a perfect shield.
(By the way, how did you put those Battler Cards on your comments?)

There's a website you can go to get one. You put them in your signature. I've managed to do plenty of perfect shields in lag honestly. You can also execute attacks faster right after a perfect shield in case you want to get damage with stronger/faster moves like dtilt.
