I have a friend who has had a tough time playing smash 3ds/wiiU. He's a Luigi guy, but he actually is trying to main Captain Falcon now. So I was wondering: If you had a friend that was just picking the game up for the first time or considering trying a new character, which smash character would you suggest?

I would suggest robin to heal hp mostly also will help for more advanced players so he will get better learning robin's magic and its count but down B would help him heal hp but also help him get better too! Also mario mostly his smash attacks and Ike would also be good for his heavy smash attacks so if he just stays in one spot and wait till foe comes close B or smash attack and B is good when someone knocks you up use it when you are coming down to instant ko or up B to get down safely I would love to help more tell me if you need more help also if he plays Pokemon I will love to help him and give him 1 free Pokemon order at my shop text you coupon cod in PM.

I normally tell them to start with Mario. Main reason is that Mario is a more easier character to pick up than the rest of the roster. After that you can determine whether you like the speedy characters or the heavies.

Definitely Mario :D Of most characters , Mario is really well balanced with his move sets and they are really easy to learn as np said . It's really also easy to main him , which I started doing too :p Other than that , then I'd really suggest Link since he also quite the same except his moves has a lot of cool down which is also an open to be attacked .

For a first timer I'd tell them to use someone like Kirby or Jigglypuff who have multiple jumps and can approach easily with air attacks and kill with Smash attacks. If the player doesn't like jumping I'd recommend Little Mac because he's pretty easy to use. If they like jabbing I'd recommend Rosalina and Luma or Mega Man because they can space out characters with jab and have strong Smash attacks.

I think it would depend on the person but if I had to choose a starting character I would say Peach. Her aerials are easy to land and she can confuse people by floating. Her attacks are not that complicated and her moveset is pretty straightforward.

Lucina/Marth is a pretty good character to start with too, because she's fast and has a counter. Not many complicated combos with just them swords >.<)/

I would consider an easy-to-use character like Kirby or Mario. Kirby was usually a balanced character in some smash bros iterations (Except Melee) and Mario has a very short learning curve. I would also recommend Yoshi because all you have to do is adjust to his abnormal recovery and that's that.

I would suggest Pikachu, since it is easy to pick up and use, (which I assume since I could use it kinda well and I kinda suck so yeah xD) or Mario because he seems to be the most easier character to use, and is very balanced.

That's true, Mario is like the most voted balanced character and so as Pikachu, But Pikachu's speed needs time to be accustomed to.
But good suggestions, I just think Pikachu could just be on the road to a balanced character

I would probably say Mario is a good starter character for someone who just picked up Smash Bros.

I would tell them to use Kirby. Kirby is a good choice because of his jumps which make great recoveries and also the ability to steal your opponent's neutral b. Kirby is also a very easy character to use and the hammer can pack a punch if it is used correctly. Kirby has good air game and can do some good combos.

Kirby FTW! Kirby used to be my ssb 64 main you know? That OP up tilt juggle to up airs then finish off with another up air. Kirby is love, Kirby is life. Kirby can forward throw chain grab in brawl, down tilt (possibly trip the opponent) to a dash grab or forward smash depending on their roll. Also Kirby can also be in the role of different character's standard b by just stealing their ability. Kirby can be a Monado Boy, a Mario clone, any character clone really. I enjoyed Kirby soo much since I picked up the ssb64 game. Unlucky for me I lost the game. ;(

I would also rec0mmend Kirby because he was in ALL the Smash Bros Games. Also Kirby has a good set of moves.

Mario has decent weight, decent speed, decent combos, a reflector, a gimp tool, a decent recovery, decent movesets, decent everything! Mario would most likely be your main too!
