Which controller do you prefer for smash and why?

Wii u pro controller, wii u gamepad, Gamecube controller, wii remote, etc.?

GameCube all the way. I don't even have the GC adapter but I used the GameCube controller on the Wii for project m and it feels great. The button layout it suited perfectly for smash, especially for a lot of off stage action. I like using the C Stick to easily do a smash attack to end a combo. For the Wii U I like using the GamePad and Pro Controller, they work a lot similarly to the GC controller, but have two Z buttons which could be used to improve grabbing based on preference. I would rather use those than the Wii Remote, I find it so hard to use the Wii Remote because charging smash attacks are a hassle plus grabbing is so unconventional. GameCube pro and GamePad all the way.

GameCube controller, I think it's because I started with the 64 controller back on Smash 64, and Melee and Brawl continued with the controller though it was the GameCubes the controls stayed the same making it easier to control and to mention allows us to hone our skills.

So GameCube controller is my choice.

I agree with you because i play all the smash games with the gc controller. I am just use to it because i play melee alot. When i play the gamepad, i dont know how to use it. I only know how to do smash attacks. Lol.

WiiRemote because I started with the wiiremote in Brawl and it is the exact same thing in Smash 4. I have learned lots of cool tricks with the WiiRemote like lots of other ways to execute grabs and pull of smashes. It is also my favorite controller next to the GameCube controller.

The Gamecube or 3DS controllers. Some techniques are easier to perform on the GC controller because of the usefulness of the Gamecube controller and personally I prefer the 3DS as a controller because the jump buttons and the overall shape isn't as weird as the GC buttons.

I said it once, and I'm saying it again, but I'm most likely to be the only human being in the universe to play Super Smash Bros. with the Wii Remote + Nunchuck combo.I know it's much more harder to execute stuff like charged Smash/side attacks on ground and air attacks as well, but I'm already used to it.Once I configured some of the buttons for my own liking,I suddenly thought that was my best controler to play the game. It's quite a long story with the buttons I tend to use,but yeah,I like the Wii Remote + Nunchuck combo, and it's my favorite controler setting for Smash. :writing:

I probably would like to use the Gamecube controller because, I THINK it doesn't really break no matter how hard you jerk it lol. I heard that the 3DS circle pad can fall off if you play Super Smash bros because it requires a ton of input to actually be good at the game.

The controller that I prefer to play with is probably the Wii U gamepad because I have been using that controller a lot more than my other controllers. Just in case I cannot use the Wii U, like I'm at a friend's house, I'd use either my New 3DS XL or a Wii U Pro Controller.

I never really got the feel for the GameCube controller. Don't get me wrong it's a great controller that's been very successful in the world of controllers, but I prefer the 3ds controller, because of its simplicity and smaller size (Ironic since my hands are gargantuan.)
