I find it funny, how I grew up never playing anything that wasn't Nintendo, but i mainly only played Mario games, the very first Pokemon game I ever played was Pokemon Platinum, My Trainer Card says September 23rd, 2009 I think and it's crazy because, well my cousin gave it to me for free because he didn't want it anymore and I didn't "like" it at first and I continued playing it because I was good at it haha, I picked Turtwig as my starter, It was funny to me how I was always doing certain things right even though I was unaware of type advantages or anything at the time, I knew nothing. I only got stuck twice too, Looking for the Hearthrome City Gym Leader XD and Beating Candace the Ice Type Gym Leader of Snowpoint City. I didn't really start enjoying Pokemon a lot until 2011 when I bought Black Version, but Platinum first got me into it, then I bought Soulsilver after Black which was amazing! so yeah lol...

It was Pokémon Red and the Trading Card game (the actual cards). I remember picking Charmander because I loved his design and going around running from everything and being defeated over and over again.

The cards my older cousin had and he showed me how to play.

Though probably the anime is the mostly my influence to getting into Pokemon games, when I was really really young, I remember watching my brother borrow his friend's Pokemon game (I think it was some game in Generation 3) and I've always watched intently of how exciting and cool it was.

I also remember an old Pokemon gold that I played (but never finished) and it was always so fun ^^ But then the data was lost and later on I moved to Pokemon Platinum :D

I started with Pokémon Blue while my sibling got Pokémon Silver at the same place (a Game Stop) and before that we had Pokémon Colosseum and my friend started probably with all of them before me. It all started when we got into some Pokémon cards at a relatives house and we weren't that into them but the games were interesting. And after that we played the DS games (upon release or really close to then) and went back to the GBA games and Pokémon XD as well as the 64 Pokémon games and I ended the collection with the freemium Pokémon games as well as Pokémon X.

I started with Pokémon Sapphire. My aunt gave me her cartridge of Sapphire and lent me her Gameboy. I always loved watching the TV Show, so my aunt thought I would love to play the games. I eventually got my own Gameboy and played for hours everywhere. Now I play the remake, Alpha Sapphire, and I love it.

I only got into Pokemon when i was eleven which was kind of late (considering everybody played it in elementary). I watched the first season of the anime and afterwards, I downloaded a gameboy emulator on my phone and beat Pokemon Red and I've loved it ever since

The game that originally got me hooked on Pokémon was the original Pokémon soul silver game where I would name myself ace, and pick a Totodile, after a couple times playing the game the only things in the game that really gave me trouble time and time again were Clair's gym battle, the gym battle against blue ( 8th Kanato leader), and the battle against red on mount silver

pokemon saphire i played a little (it was my cousins game), i got yellow version and it sealed the deal for a long line of pokemon games in my possession :D

well, pre fourth gen, i never had any pokemon games, but i had an older brother that was born in 1997, so he born when it first came out. i would always see him play one of the gba games (usually lg or ruby) and i thought it was really cool (except for the couple times i pressed the new game button, he always got after me). then one day my dad took me and my brother out, because he had a bunch of money and decided to take us out for a treat and let us buy things. since hg and ss had first come out, we had decided to buy it at target, me with ss and my bro with hg. i was really happy at the tie, cause i had my own pokemon game instead of having to play one of my bro's game w/o pressing new game. the second i got home, i popped thye game into the ds, and started to play it, going on to play it over 3 times.i also have black, plt (i lost that one a while back ehehe), and currently y.

Wow!! It's so amazing to see how a high percentage of you all started with series at or before Generation 3, I've never played any game before Pokemon Diamond (until fairly recently I played Emerald on an emulator woo! and I still haven't beaten it lol) but I have a fair knowledge of Generation 2 from Playing Soulsilver which is practically the same of Gold and Silver, just remastered and few changes. But yeah that's so awesome for all you guys! I really wish I could try Pokemon Y and (idk about Alpha Sapphire) but I don't have a 3DS (although I heard today that Nintendo cut the prices of the 2DS from $129 to $99 which is pretty cool!) that's so awesome, I think my favorite one that i've played is Black 2 Version, it was like the best pokemon game out there (for it's time before X/Y lol) it had so much content! so many things to do, it was amazing

My first Pokemon game was Platnium that I got when I was 5 on my r4/m3 card. It was the generation of my generation since I was born in 2004 and platinum came out in 2009. My first actual card game was when I was 6 and I scored at a basketball game (I play in a basketball league) and I never scored before I got the game. I actually scored with 00.01 seconds left! I started playing competitive Pokemon in XY.

Well not many people started on the first game like me then! :p I started on old pokemon red, and at that time I just hated the tv show and would change channel everytime a pokémon appears.
Then some relatives came and they got the card game, so they were mainly collecting it, not really playing and they say something like some of the pokémons could talk, but others no, it was all pretty confusing and sounded dumb to me.
And then my cousin came with her game boy and pokémon red, and she forgot them both when she went back home. So I started playing out of boredom and really loved the game and got totally hooked. I only had it for like a month before my cousin got back her game boy but I beat the league with only a charizard level 72....
I actually didn't realized you could change pokémons during a fight or change the orders of your pokémon. so I went through the entire game with only my dear charizard. I also had a geodude and an oddish that I used only if charizard was KO. I Know how dumb and crazy it sounds but the old games were not as clear as the modern ones are :p
After that I started watching the anime and I bought my own game boy and pokémon red as soon as I could. And then I had all the main games of pokémon and many of the spin off, BUT as I only recently got a 3ds I haven't try the latest ones yet. But I will!

I started with Fire Red when it was released, unintentionally actually, asked a friend at summer camp to lend me a game to play and he gave me that. I loved it right away and after a while my best bud told me of Emerald, so i went and bought it. I spent HOURS(300+) in battle frontier and trainer hill! I just loved the battles and especially the one against Steven in Emerald! That's how i started, then I got the ds and bought every pokemon game ever since except B2/W2/X/AS. As for the older ones, i still play them on emulators and I have even made romhacks for fun.

The game that got me into the series was Pokemon Emerald. It wasn't even my copy of the game, it was my friends who let me try it out. I really liked it, and that's what made my love fro the 3rd gen and ORAS as well. I didn't start liking the series right away though. The first game I ever got myself was Pokemon Omega Ruby along with my 3ds for Christmas. However it was the Pokemon Emerald that made me want the 3rd gen remake.

I used to collect the original trading cards (Not knowing English, I didn't know they were Playing Cards and not Collecting Cards, heh), then one christmas, probably in 2000 or 2001, I recieved a green Game Boy Color and Pokémon Yellow Version.

We were quite poor , and I was probably too young to play Red or Blue when they were released anyway. (I'm still surprised I enjoyed Yellow so much, as I must have been six or seven years old at that time, and knowing three words of English all-in-all).
Some years later, I purchesed Crystal at a fair (There were no game stores in my town), making it the first game I ever bought myself.
