My moms gonna get me an eshop card for Christmas most likely which should I get Pokemon Y or Pokemon Alpha sapphire
Plz give me reasons such as features and other things

Depends on what you're looking for really.
If you're fairly new to Gen 6 and want to get a feel for stuff like Mega Evolution and Pokemon Amie and stuff I recommend starting with Y. The kalos region is rather large and lots of cities (I think it has the most cities compared to other regions). However Pokemon Y does not have a lot of Legendaries, which isn't really a downside. Pokemon Y also lets you ride on Rollerskates which is fun to do tricks with :D. If you want a game that has lots of Pokemon available, plenty of Legendaries to hunt, and everything that Y has but with more content then I would recommend playing Alpha Sapphire. The story is decent and nostalgic for someone that has played any of the RSE games. I play AS more than I play X now because I moved my competitive team onto AS, but I still play X if I wanna do some nuzlockes or special runs.

You'll be getting lots of legendaries in Alpha Sapphire, so you'll probably end up like me and have duplicates of a lot of Legendaries if you get Alpha Sapphire xD

Oh ell if I have duplicates it just means I can trade with others
Mainly the legendarys from x and y which I will have to trade for

Plus that's good bc XY doesn't have a lot of the Pokemon that ORAS has, and most XY pokemon can be obtained in ORAS

I'd say Omega ruby. In omega ruby, you get primal groudon which has immunity to its 4x weakness. You get tons of legends, and there is tons of stuff to get. It also has a more involved competitive meta, for when you get bored.

You should get Alpha Saphire

Has a better Story (waaaay better)
Has a better Post-Game (waaaay better)
Has More Legendaries to catch
Has more Megas (Competitively, ORAS outclasses XY; you can only use XY megas in XY, but you can use ORAS megas and XY megas in ORAS)
Has Pokémon Contests (XY doesn't have it)
Has Better Music (once again waaaaaaaaaaay better)
Has Better Rivals
Has Secret Bases (They are so cool!!!)
Most of the oficial Pokémon online tournament are going to be ORAS exclusive

In short words, right now Alpha Saphire > Y

1.- I played both, and Alpha Saphire is waaay better than Saphire (Is al the good things of Saphire + the goods thing of XY)
2.-If you want to play Saphire, you need to find a GBA (wich is not easy) and a copy of Saphire (wich is even harder)

I have a DS lite and a copy of the game from Half price books. It is an amazing game, but mine has the internal battery dried up, so i cant get to mirage island.

Well, but you can't get Saphire (GBA) with an E-Shop card

And the 3DS can't use GBA games

BTW Emerald > Saphire

The legendaries are not the only thing about omega ruby. Pokemon Y is the best for introducing you into gen 6. If you want to jump straight into more features go to Omega Ruby but I will recommend oras because that's what all the events are towards right now.

Yeah, when I recommend a friend that had never played a Pokémon game, XY is perfect :)

but for someone that have already played a Pokémon game, the best thing to do is buy both (cause both are awesome), but if you can only buy one, ORAS outclasses XY in almost everyway (the story and back story ties a bit, but everything else is GG)

I've played pokemon before mainly black
I'm planning on eventually getting both starting with OS
The main thing that confuses me is the breeding and iv's and all that surf since ill be doing competitive battles ill need major assistance as I hardly understand the guides on 3ds pedia

For breeding, I would recommend you to watch a Youtube guide, since you are watching the process (I like the Pimpnite guide)

I would recommend playing the special demo of ORAS first, not only do you get a Pokémon to transfer over to the full game but you get items too to transfer over the more you play it.

I would get the newer one because it's new and has much more features.

But if your grandparents are getting you a gift too you could ask for Y :sneaky:

Sadly I only have a poor grandma left. But I did tell her I'd like an eshop card for my birthday. I have played the special demo numerous times XD

Kinda skipping to the box here... Now I'm not sure why you didn't list X or Omega Ruby. But as the first person said, if you want to start with the new features of Generation 6, start with Pokémon X/Y. Alpha Sapphire/Omega Ruby actually looks good but I recommend getting the demo first because you can get rewards to transfer to the full game. So I'd say get X/Y first, get Apha Sapphire/Omega Ruby later.
