Gen 1 Who is a better Pokemon Trainer?

Who do you think is a better Pokemon Trainer:
Ash from the Anime or Red from the Gen 1 Kanto Games?

More than likely I'll say Red mostly because he actually won the Indigo Plateu and fully completed the Pokedex whereas Ash didn't get anywhere close to either of the two. Plus Red actually knew type match ups and battle strategies and Ash had to learn a new type matchup after 2 or 3 battles. Red also single-handely took down the Team Rocket organization while Ash had to deal with the same two Rockets for generations. Note that I'm basing Red from the Manga/Pokemon Origins on this since the game character develops less than the manga and origins.

Ha, that's easy Red is. Mostly because he defeated/disbanded Team Rocket, helped the Lavender Town Ghost, became the Champion, and was overall a much stronger Trainer (and according to Pokémon Origins caught a legendary Pokémon, where as to Ash had many chances to catch Legends and didn't). Also he beat Giovanni, Ash couldn't do that.

Now I don't hate Ash but I think he's too goofy and he doesn't seem to learn from his battles. And he keeps losing at the league you'd think he'd win by now.

Most definitely my answer would be Red since he is a lot more better into Pokemon battles and more competitive in it as well . He also did so many other things like become the Champion and all , and catch legendaries as everyone had said . So in comparison , Red is better

Red, hands-down. He caught every single Pokemon, knows more about type matchups, beat Team Rocket by himself, and became Champion of Kanto.

Ash, however, hasn't caught even one-fifth of all Pokemon, doesn't know types well, fights the same two Rockets over and over again, and he hasn't even completed any League challenges. Oh, and he doesn't always get his badges in the traditional way. Maylene freaking gave him her badge when their battle ended in a draw!
