Her story is basically that she is the Twilight princess but Zant took control by force. She finds Link the first time he goes into the Twilight and helps him escape the prison they threw him in.

The wolf form isn`t so good as the goron, zora and deku scrub form in majoras mask, but it adds a great touch to the game and gives it more creative Puzzles using the for against Twilight enemies and using senses to Discover scents, Objects and hidden enemies. The combat system could be much better, but its okay.

Other members have already answered your question. Anyways, that character is Midna. She is your partner in Twilight Princess and certainly a good one. Better than Navi. She does help you a lot in the game and even carries the shard that turns you into a wolf whenever you want. Although she does tend to yell at you in some points.

The girl is Minda in her imp form. She's in Zelda Twilight Princess. When you first meet her you do sorta think she's a villian, but she is a companion like Fi, Navi, and Tatl. Unlike the others how ever the story revolves around her. She has way more attitude than the others and even called Link out for his whole " no talking" thing. The game itself is very good and I think you would enjoy it.
