Why does Mario have a Bushy Moustache?

I think it'd be better as a handlebar. Imagine if in the games you could get a moustache powerups and like grab and throw stuff with your handlebar 'stache. Oh my gosh. I've hit the jackpot. Somebody forward this to nintendo, this is the best idea ever.
 
Haha. I think the bushy moustache makes him look more silly and thus more appealing to children. The handlebar moustache would make him look more grown-up and less silly, which would be a tremendous shame.

Well if thats the case, i think wario needs to be toned down. hes a littttle bit scary. but im biased, cuz i dislike wario anyways. Yellow is my least fave color, too. In the mario world, i like luigi the best. Hes a beast. and a boss. and amazing in SSB4. and i also like weegee, but hes less known
 
Lol, he looks like a typical Italian with that mustache, and like @Spinnerweb said, makes him more appealing to children. If you'd like to see the mustaches of Mario/Luigi put to use, you should try out Mario and Luigi: Dream Team on the 3DS> There are parts where you pull Luigi's mustaches and use it to launch Mario to further places.
 
Where else would he hide his power ups? If he did not have a bushy moustache?

You can't go run questioning everything like if you question his moustache then you would have to question why is link's hair is yellow blonde and why does bowser look like a turtle,dragon with horns?
 
Why does bowser not have a mustache is the real question. Jk... not really cx I think it's to make him look more kiddy and approachable. I think he'd looks way weird without a mustache :rotfl:

Mario is not evil but he does have the evil look if he does make a certain kind of face just like luigi,imagine luigi evil with his moustache he would be the real super villain.

Well, have you seen Mario without a mustache? We have a local gaming store here in my country that used an edited Super Smash Bros image (the cover for Wii U version) for their paper bags. They edited almost every character and turned Mario and Luigi without the mustache! They really looked awkward.

And I guess they designed Mario as a typical plumber, so they added their mustache. Haha.

I think Mario should have a hitler stache. I want to see a photoshop of that.. xD Then I suppose he'd look evil. Maybe there will be a Mario game where you get to customize Mario before you play. Then I can give him a Hitler stache! xDD

Anyleaf, I agree with @faustine. They would look pretty darn weird without one. xD
