Why Goldeen?

This has been bothering me for a while but why do the Pokéballs have goldeen programmed into them and not karp? I mean think about it - Karp is known for splash, not Goldeen. I mean not that I'm complaining or anything but just wondering why?

I know right? Why would they have Goldeen splashing around instead of Magikarp? Children cannot even learn Splash (Here is Goldeen' s level up moves: http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Goldeen_(Pokémon)#Learnset ). Plus, Gyarados is much better than Seaking.

Maybe they though that having Magikarp as the useless splashing Pokemon would be too cliche?

Fun fact, Goldeen will sometimes come out of the Master Ball for maximum trolling. Anyways, I never understood why Goldeen was the splash Pokemon, until the rumors started that it could use Horn Drill. I too feel like Ive been hit with a Horn Drill once, but it seems that this fact was dis-proven, though I forget by whom.

It's probably because Magikarp suffers too much from being known as the worst/most hated Pokemon of all time,and Sakurai has a little bit of mercy on the poor fish,so he puts Goldeen splashing around the arenas instead,but that's just what I think this happens.
