anyone seen the mini version of the Wii? what do you think of it? as if the Wii wasn't small and compact enough already. xD

I've seen it at the store, but I have no interest in one. Would have been cool to own one when I used the Wii though.

It's kind of a joke really, if I remember right Nintendo brought it out near the Wii U release which is kind of dumb to do. Better off saying up for the Wii U.

I too feel that this is a waste of money. It lacks many of the features that I know and love about the regular Wii.

The more I think about it, the more I feel that the development and release of the Wii Mini was a prelude to the impending shutdown of the Nintendo WiFi Connection for online play.

I have seen a Wii Mini at a local retailer about 4 years ago. It looked wierd and honestly looked like a smaller version of a Wii. In fact, this model actually costed more than an actual Wii. Many people said that this was a joke, since it lacked many content that the Wii had.

Never ever seen it either, I have seen it on the nintendo web page though. I think it is seriously awesome! To tell you the truth, its perfect for people who do not have much money and can not afford to get costly things, but it can also be used for people who want to get something for cheap, but I have to admit, the wii mini really is a joke.

I don't really like the Wii mini that much because of the lack of internet and you can't play Gamecube games on it like seriously that is lame. Even though it is $100 I see no point in buying it though the lack of internet wouldn't be a problem since Nintendo took down the Wii and DSs routers last year. Though not being able to play Gamecube is really sad.:cry:

I'll start with the retail price of the two Wiis.
Wii Mini=100€
Regular Wii=129€
Literally NO ONE bought the Mini one! I even asked a friend of mine in the sales department of the largest electronics retail store chain in the country and he told me they sold a total of ZERO copies of that system! It even got discontinued two months later because no one would buy it! It just wasn't worth it considering almost everyone here had a Game Cube and tons of games, it was really stupid of Nintendo to release it at all! For such a slight difference in price, it wasn't even a difficult choice! We all simply got the regular one!

The Wii mini is the equivalent of the 2ds, a waste. The fact that they made this so that it's easier to transport is stupid. No internet? Why would you do that Nintendo? Along with taking away GameCube? Wii regular was way better.

I agree. The regular Wii is much better. I used to play so many games on it before the Wii U came out and I still have it to watch Netflix on in my room XD I see the Wii Mini for sale online sometimes, but I've never so much as looked at it since I already have the Wii and the Wii U. It'd be a huge waste to get one. I will just stick my regular Wii and Wii U to play me games and steer clear of this little waste of resources.

Well i have seen wii mini several times aand they can be found only with ease.

I really don't wii mini were made ,this mini version of wii almost made no sale which might be kinda disppointig for Nintendo company.
even there is not much difference between the price of wii and wii mini so i think people will prefer wii not its mini versionXD

With the Wii mini, while it had a reduced price compared to the original Wii at launch from what @Tho said, it doesn't really beat the price of the Wii now, which was probably a big reason for why it failed, along with all the big features being stripped away

I literally bought a preowned Wii for just £30 recently for homebrew :sneaky:

I seen it. I think I might get it just to have it if I ever rake up enough cash for it. I won't use it though (I hardly use the regular Wii ). It's cute though with it being so small.

I dunno why people hate on this type of stuff from Nintendo. They were expanding the options to people's preferences - to the ones who want to play games locally and have fun. Definitely is worth the price if you don't already have a regular Wii. Nintendo probably figured it wouldn't have gotten that many sales, since it was never really intended to be a major alt to the Wii.

I'm pretty sure most will agree with this, the wii mini is complete garbage. First, it losses all wifi, making online play impossible, which is a downer at first, but then you realise you cant get virtual console games either, which is a double downer. Also, no SD cards, so yippee! Finally, no gamecube game support, plus no gamecube controller support either, which means you can't play the following games:
Active Life: Explorer
Active Life: Extreme Challenge
Active Life: Magical Carnival
Active Life: Outdoor Challenge
Ultimate Party Challenge
And the following games now have limited funcionality:
Dance Dance Revolution
DanceDanceRevolution II
Dance Dance Revolution: Disney Grooves
DanceDanceRevolution Hottest Party
DanceDanceRevolution Hottest Party 2
DanceDanceRevolution Hottest Party 3
Walk It Out

Wouldn't the Classic Controller accessory work? I don't know about these games but, considering they are most likely Wii games, they should work with Wii controllers and accessories

No, I took these games directly from Nintendo's website, I'll post the link at the end of this reply, but yeah I'm pretty sure all accessories work EXCEPT those that have to do with the GameCube, I.e. controllers and memory card. But no WiFi sucks, like I won't let even sugar coat this... This failure that Nintendo markets. They make so much money and fans off the eshop and Wii shop but they get rid of the WiFi, no internet browser, photo streaming, online play, dlc can no longer be bought, etc. Also, no SD card means no sharing replays or photos on ssbb, so good luck enjoying your cheap bootleg Wii.

I didn't say I were getting one
I already have 2 normal Wii consoles

Well, you was right, but I didn't expect Wii games to require Gamecube controllers
Also, that isn't a Wii mini problem as an earlier 'reduced' model also loses those games
Fine, reduced model is also trash
But what I ment was that in general, those who get it are buying garbage
But thank you for addressing me about this

Obviously, it was targeted to kids, but I would still recommend the original model over the mini. The main problem with mini is that they removed wifi compatibility. It would have been nice to play virtual console on it. Also the price: it originally retailed for $100. I found that you can purchase the normal model for $80. More features at a low cost is a bad move there.
