Wii U Set-Up Troubleshooting Help?

I'm having some issues with a Wind Waker HD Wii U I got yesterday. I've connected it to the TV and everything but once I get to syncing the gamepad and the console I've got problems....The Gamepad keeps saying "Turn on TV and Wii U and check the TV input settings are right for Wii U?" or some message to that effect and it's not syncing to my Wii U...help?

Yeah, forget this. I just exchanged it for a new one later on and had no set-up issues that time around. Sorry for the making this thread useless now
