Will Majoras Mask 3D keep that dark feeling that was etched into players hearts?

When I heard that Majoras Mask 3D comes out next Spring, the first thing that came to my mind was the feeling. In Ocarina of Time 3D, the game just didn't have that feel that the original N64 game brought to me. Now with Majoras Mask, I assume its going to be similar to how they remade Ocarina of Time so I'm honestly expecting no feel of the inevitability of death and the other things that the eerie game made you feel.

Hmm. I guess the first time you play it, things are a lot different. I did get that feeling of being trapped in a haunted area that had the aura of death emanating from it.
I think that it's not the graphics that matter. Ocarina of Time might have felt different due to it being the first Zelda game with 3D graphics. Majora's Mask is a game that has a dark storyline, that is the feeling you get when you seem to be trapped in a parallel dimension.

Ocarina of 3D cannot bring the same feeling because our perception changes with our age, especially if Ocarina of Time was of the first games you played or one core in your childhood. I have found out that as a kid I filled many gaps and I didn't know what to expect, now for the remake I can have expectations than when not meet end in disappointment.

Ocarina of Time didn't disappoint me and allowed me again to rediscover Hyrule, it was like visiting back after a long trip away. The place looks almost the same but you can tell apart what is different because your memory is so vividly. The details they did to enrich the looks of rooms and stuff in OoT 3D were appreciated but now the game seems too simple by today standards.

That aside I understand your concern for the feeling, because I share it. If the moon is something to speak for, it seems to keep the dark Aura, however Mr. Iwata mentioned about making the game available for everyone, which I have in the past seen to mean downgrade somethings, I am not sure if that will happen in MM.

So far it seems to be trying to keep things like they were, which I commend, but we have only see few snippets. It's great they have finally come to the open regarding the remake.

The story is probably still dark but perhaps you are thinking the higher resolution and brighter overall lighting just wasn't dark enough for you to like it. It might but I don't think that would be the problem. Higher resolution scares in my opinion are just better. Maybe your at the age where you just don't get scared of things anymore and you look at the game differently now that you are older and already know the whole story. Hopefully they have a Master Quest on it so the game isn't just the same thing or a cakewalk. Maybe they might even make the fishboss easier (but I doubt it).

Well I guess you are right though. Even though it is a remake, it is an updated version of the game. Updated graphics, updated music, and other updated things. Even though it's the same game, that is what makes it different. I hope from what they have said about Majora's Mask being more than a remake is worth the wait.

I have played only the remake of the game, and I feel that it is dark. I heard that the original was even darker, since the N64 was one of the earliest 3D consoles, so the models tend to creep people out (ReDeads, Gibdos) Even when I got to the night of the Final Day, I felt that it got really depressing. That music...
