Being competitive at Pokemon is a long journey. You'll learn a lot, you'll make a lot of mistakes, you'll learn from experience and you'll meet a lot of other competitive people and whatnot.

The good thing about being competitive in Pokemon is that you'll enjoy a deeper part of the game in which what you say, "casual gamers" won't experience lol

Let's discuss about the bad side of competitive Pokemon training lol

I'll start...

The worst thing about being competitive at Pokemon is RNG'ing legendary Pokemons lol
It's bad enough you can't breed it to make RNG easier for competitive stats and they'll also make the legendary Pokemon only available once per game lol Meaning, you have to soft-reset the legendary Pokemon just to get the stats you want lol

Yeah but legendarys should be more exclusive, and while most of them are band for competitive anyway, those that aren't now get some guaranteed ivs, but not too much so they stay unique.
What bothers me would be people that don't stick to rules (i mean no offense if you disagree with smogon, i do sometimes too)
And use strategys that are cheap and rely on hax, like klefky with swagger, or togekiss with paraflinch (well he more because it's also too bulcky)

Not to mention how unorganized the PC boxes can get >.< I have a bunch of random Litwicks sitting around all my PC boxes in X, it's a good thing I started getting more organized in Alpha Saphhire (named the box "Failed Breeds" because it is what it is)

@Evelyn has been summoned :artist:

Sometimes it can be a little hard when you want to get competitive in Pokemon . It requires a lot of skill and knowledge to have the right Pokemon and its synergy with the rest . With the different types of battles there's even more when it comes to strategy . So it can get difficult , but being competitive is something nice

All I did was breed for an hour and now 2 1/2 boxes are filled with eggs and another is full with Pokemons. Not a single shiny and highest I got were 2 5IVs. I had used destiny knot but not the other IV item (I forgot >.<) I bred Klefkis and Dratinis and got 5 HA's and most Dratinis were HA since I bred with female dragonite with multiscale. 4 Prankster Klefkis. I hate breeding. Now I have to give them good movesets/items/evs/etc. them which is the worst part of the whole process. :d

The IV Breeding can get incredibly tedious and frustrating, especially when it takes a lot longer than you initially expect. >.> EV training can also become irritating in Hordes when you've gone through about 10 Hordes without seeing the Pokemon you need (too many Nidoran on Route 11... >.< Where are you, Stunky?) Once I've even forgotten to breed an Egg Move onto a Pokemon, which I only realised AFTER EV Training and Levelling to Level 50... :c

But my biggest problem is the Boxes. For those who don't have access to the Bank (like me ;-;), IV Breeding fills all your boxes up and you won't be able to breed any more unless you release some others. Most breedjects can be released, but it's time consuming to release each and every one, one by one. (-_-)/ The Bank may not be very expensive, but really, I'd have expected Nintendo to make it less punishing on those who breed but can't get it.

Arrrgh even though I have a 6iv ditto I still find iv breeding a pain as usually rng hates my guts and gives me 5 IVS in the wrong stats. Even after that you need to consider egg moves, and ev training which takes 15 minutes per pokemon. Then after you need to level it up to get to its final evolution, and after that you may or may not need tutor moves. And the rejects take up so much boxes it's not even funny. It's very tedious.

You and me both, pal. That, plus the fact that sometimes I don't always get the ability I want.

Status Hax, Hax0rs, RNG and evasion are what I hate! I come across them all the time and they always make me drop my guard and reveal my secret.

I totally agree with the worst thing about competitive are that we can't breed legendary and they they have random nature and even thunder wave, burn, poison and frezee are also to annoying

Yeah, it can certainly be hard to breed the Pokémon you want for competitive use, but think about it. It's practically as simple as making a lot of posts on the forum, since there are a plethora of different Pokémon Shops in this forum, so you could just pay PC to get a competitive Pokémon. 2 shops I would recommend are @KJGupta's shop and @MLPD's shop.

Wow that would really help out.
They do that for only a few play coins?

When i get done with my game I'll be sure to check it out.
Btw where's the iv checker guy. My friend tells me its in some pokemon center

Yes, I believe that the IV Checker in Omega Ruby is in the Pokemon Center at the Battle Resort (BTW the Battle Maison is a great way to train and figure out the rules of Smogon's competitive scene.) The shop @KJGupta runs can IV train Pokémon, and the one @MLPD has can help with getting legendaries. I hope that helps.

No problem. If you need any tips about team building, just ask, and I'll give you as much info as I possibly can.

Sorry but i dont really like competetive battling (sorry). I think it all to much effort with ivs and evs and stuff, i just cant be bothered with it all. Having said that, its always fun to finally beat someone online with a great pokemon.

Yeah, I know how you feel, I can barely keep interest in Super Training to full-on EV train my Rayquaza, but I'm halfway thru tho :p
