So here's a situation, you're given a choice between a console and TV or a laptop, and whichever you choose will be given to you at the end of the month.

To make it a fair choice, consider that you currently own neither of them, or any substitutes, I.e. no previous gen consoles nor a desktop PC.

In addition, if you choose the laptop, it would be of similar price range of the total of the console and TV. No special edition consoles either (like a Star Wars PS4) as these would add to the cost. This means no specialized gaming laptops either.

So which would you choose? And why?

Personally I'd choose a laptop, as let's say a $600 one would be able to play a whole bunch of games and get more done than a console in general.

But I am a bit in the fence about it, considering that I really want a ps4 as well xD

Glad you said that, because I already own 4 laptops and no console (and no TV, except at my parents) so I obviously like laptops better than consoles. So if I don't have any of these, laptop is the way to go. But if you take my possessions into consideration, well maybe I don't need another laptop :p

So yeah, I choose laptop for several reasons.

First, I need a laptop (or more than one :p) as a Computer Science student :p
Also, as a student in general, I kind of often go to places, like my parent's, my student home, etc (the "worst" one being when I went to Sweden for 6 months) and it's a lot easier to move your laptop setup than to move your home console+TV setup.

Then, a computer does more than a home console. You can browse the net (with a keyboard to write URLs), chat with people (with a keyboard to type what you say), play games with a controller (same as on console), play games with a mouse (FPS), etc.

The only thing a home console does better than a laptop (or desktop) is local multiplayer. Just plug several controllers and play on the big TV screen. You can plug several controllers on a laptop too but the screen isn't the best for a 4 player Smash :p
I just don't take this argument too seriously because I don't have a lot of friends I play locally with. Basically one, and he owns a Wii and a Wii U -.-

I'm pulling for the Laptop computer. Day and night, I rely on a home-desktop PC for everything; journal, canvas, log-book, game console, music player, news outlet, television substitute, (Hulu and more) time-waster, programming tool, social platform (more like social-disgrace platform with me...) and far more! Can you imagine the power of portability for me!?! :wtf:

For realzyz? ^3^ or is this some sort of hypothetical question? If so, why wait 'till the end of the month if we're talking hypothetics?

(Also, long time no post! Great to see ya still roaming the Pedia.)

I would choose a laptop for some obvious reasons. Anyone can be more productive with a laptop and its features would generally be a lot more than a game console. I could go with any average laptop that can carry out basic tasks and other stuff decently.

A game console would be ok but compared to a laptop, a laptop can play games too :p
