How to get the Shiny Charm in Pokemon X/Y

This tutorial teaches you how to get the shiny charm in Pokemon X/Y and its uses.

What is the Shiny Charm?

The shiny charm is a key item in Pokemon X/Y that increases your chance of finding a shiny Pokemon in the wild (by 300%, so there’s a 1 in 2,730.6 chance of finding a shiny Pokemon in the wild). It was also said that if you’re using the Masuda Method for breeding, the chance of hatching a shiny Pokemonn increases from 1 in 1365.3 to 1 in 1024.

How to get the Shiny Charm in Pokemon X/Y

It’s simple. You must catch/obtain all non-event Pokemon (the event Pokemon are listed below) from all generations (1 to 6). After, go to Lumiose City and use a taxi to travel to Professor Sycamore’s Lab. Find Professor Sycamore and talk to him to get the shiny charm.

List of event Pokemon :

Arceus
Celebi
Darkrai
Deoxys
Genesect
Keldeo
Manaphy
Meloetta
Mew
Phione
Shaymin
Jirachi
Victini

You’re also not required to have Diancie, Volcanion and Hoopa registered as caught in your PokeDex. Of course, some Pokemon are not available in the wild in Pokemon X/Y, therefore, PokeBank is required unless you go hunting in the Global Trade Station or add people to your 3DS friend list to trade over Wi-Fi.

Tip to get Pokemon for your Pokedex in seconds from the GTS :

Never, I repeat, never use the GTS’s search feature to look for the Pokemon that you need for your PokeDex. You’re going to find ridiculous offers such as a level 5 Pikachu up for trade for a level 100 Zapdos. To easily get the Pokemon that you’re looking for, breed rare Pokemon (such as Pokemon that cannot be caught in Kalos like Meowth or gen 5 starters) and put them up for trade in the GTS. Someone will trade with you in under a minute. This works well if you’re not looking for legendary Pokemon.
