To play a Nintendo 3DS game with your friends locally or online, you will be required to add the person’s friend code on your Nintendo 3DS. The person who you add will also be required to add your 3DS friend code to his/her 3DS. How To Find Your Nintendo 3DS Friend Code
To find your 3DS friend code, follow the steps below :
- Turn on the Nintendo 3DS.
- Tap on the smiley face icon located at the top of the 3DS touchscreen.
- Find your Mii and view the card (located on the top screen of the 3DS).
Your friend code should be displayed at the bottom of the card.

How To Add A Nintendo 3DS Friend Code
To add someone to your 3DS friend list, follow the steps below :
- Turn on the Nintendo 3DS.
- Tap on the smiley face icon (located at the top of the 3DS touchscreen).
- Tap on the smiley face icon with the plus sign (it says, “Register Friend”).
- Choose Local or Internet.
- Local – someone next to you who owns a 3DS
- Internet – someone with Wi-Fi and a 3DS who is far away.
- If you selected Internet, type in the person’s 3DS friend code and name.
After exchanging friend codes with someone, you will be able to play a game’s multiplayer portion with a friend via local wireless or Wi-Fi.
