Belial is a level 70 demon of the Tyrant race in Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse located at the Hall of Eternity A. At a certain point in the game, you will have to defeat him and this guide shows you good methods to get the job done.

How To Beat Belial in Shin Megami Tensei 4: Apocalypse

Belial has a weakness to ice skills and blocks both fire and dark skills.

His skills are :

  • Dekunda (stat decreases removed)
  • Trisagion (severe fire skill)
  • Myriad Arrows (gun skill that hits all enemies)
  • Fire of Lethargy (one target, lowers defense, hit and evade rates)
  • Will of Flame (fire attacks pierce until turn ends)
  • Maragidyne (heavy fire skill, hits all enemies)
  • Mortal Jihad (physical skill)

The sad truth about stat reducing skills :

Using stat reducing skills on him will not work out well in the long run because he uses his Dekunda skill the first chance he gets, unless the fastest user on your team has it and/or you want him to waste a turn using his stat decrease removal skill.

Null and repel will not work against him :

Makarakarn will not be very effective either since Belial possess the Will of Flame skill which allows his fire attacks to pierce through your strengths, therefore nulling and repelling fire will not work in your favor.

Defeating Belial 101 :

The quickest and easiest way to defeat Belial is the classic way of stocking up on powerful demons with ice skills that are not weak to fire or physical skills, and go on an all-out brawl with him. Assist attacks should be taken advantage of for the additional damage and turn.

You will need members of your party with reviving skills because Trisagion hits pretty hard, especially when he only targets one of your party members or gets a smirk from Myriad Arrows/Mortal Jihad.

When you defeat him, you should obtain the Seal of Delusion.
