How To Clone Items in Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Published on July 16th, 2013 by Gervais D.

There is a glitch in Animal Crossing: New Leaf that allows a player to clone as many items as they want. It is possible to clone Bells (Bell bags in your pocket), silver/gold equipment, house items, clothes, accessories, you name it. Sharks and bugs can not be cloned because players are unable to drop those items, and releasing them make them go away forever.

Step 1: Fill your pocket with the items that you want to clone. Note: Items that players are unable to drop on the floor can not be cloned.

Step 2: Visit a friend’s town over Wi-Fi.

Step 2: Drop the items that you want to clone off at your friend’s town, then let the host end the multiplayer session. You should see a message on the screen saying, “Looks like it’s time to go home”, and after the game should begin to save.

Step 3: When the saving screen appears, you have to turn off wireless by using the switch on the Nintendo 3DS one dot before it completes its full circle spin (see in the video below).

If everything goes according to plan, you should see Resetti and an error message. The item(s) that you dropped should remain in your pocket and the town that you just visited. You can go back to your friend’s town to recollect the items if your friend leaves it on the ground, of course.
