I have never encountered a problem for progressing in Tales of the Abyss until I had to find Anise. Yeah, it’s the first half of the game when you encounter some mean looking enemies that you escaped. You will be required to meet back up with Anise to progress further.
Who is Anise Tatlin
If you have already forgotten, Anise is the 13 year old girl who loves Luke. I’m not sure if it’s love at first sight or what – I really can’t remember. She is a Fon Master Guardian and the highest official in the Order of Lorelei.

How To Find Anise in Tales of the Abyss
After you exit the Tartarus (a battleship), escape the God generals, and finish your business in St. Binah, go into the open world map. After exiting The Citadel. St. Binah (St. Binah for short), follow the road until you meet the direction sign that points to St. Binah and Engeve. Turn the camera until the top-left compass points in the south direction. Turn Luke to the south direction and go straight – yes, it’s off the road. Move through the trees and eventually you should find an unknown location. This unknown location is called, Fubras River.

Keep playing and you will eventually find Anise in the next location that you discover which isn’t tough to find after exiting Fubras River. After you exit Fubras River, just go in the one direction (which is forward) to find The Border Fortress: Kaitzur (Anise is there).
