I’ve been one of the unlucky Pokemon TCG Pocket players to experience the Authentication 102-002-007 error code. Contacting the official Support team is a waste of time, and it seems that the developers refuse to fix the core issue, as many players continue to look to Facebook and Reddit for help from their peers.
Here’s a list of what worked for me (ranked from the best to the worst):
The issue appears to be with the Internet connection you’re using to play the game. Switching to mobile data or a different WiFi connection can resolve the issue, even if temporarily.
Reset your WiFi router so that it obtains a new IP address. This will allow you to connect to the Pokemon TCG Pocket servers again. You may need to clear your Pokemon TCG Pocket app cache before reopening the app.
Android: Settings -> Apps -> Pokemon TCGP -> Storage -> Clear Cache
iOS/iPhone: Settings -> General -> iPhone Storage -> Pokemon TCGP
This issue has recently started affecting me (using a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra), where one day it would work, and the next was problematic. Regardless of my efforts to fix it, it would always return later. The only solution that puts an end to the authentication error that I see mentioned nowhere is to turn off push notifications for the app (Pokemon TCGP), clear your cache, and reset your WiFi.
After doing this, I have not seen the error code once on my device while playing. I am uncertain if this issue is connected to push notifications, but it’s been nearly over a month without any signs of the issue after turning off these notifications for the app.
I believe the Pokemon TCGP developers implemented security mechanisms to combat bots by attempting to block VPNs. Unfortunately, it’s been blocking legit players (like me) who have never used a VPN to play the game. However, if you do use a VPN, turn it OFF and clear your app cache to see if it works.
I wouldn’t recommend reinstalling the app. Clearing your app cache and redownloading the Pokemon TCG Pocket data is sufficient. I’ve encountered several people who deleted their saved data accidentally while following this method, which is why I wouldn’t recommend it.
