How To Swim in Animal Crossing: New Leaf

To swim in the game, you will need a wet suit. After obtaining a wet suit, open your inventory (in-game pocket) and select the wet suit. Wear it, get close to the ocean and press the “A” button on the 3DS. You can also dive while wearing the wet suit in water.

Note : to dive, press the “Y” button on the Nintendo 3DS.

Where to get a wet suit in Animal Crossing: New Leaf? – a wet suit can be purchased at the Island. At the Island, the seller only accepts medals. Players can earn medals by going to tours and completing the objectives. If a wet suit is not available when you visit the Island, check back the next day until it’s available.

List of wet suits available from Grams’s souvenir shop :

  • Green Diving Suit (the first wet suit I got, and the cheapest)
  • Black Diving Suit
  • White Diving Suit (for Club Tortimer members only)
  • Blue Diving Suit (for Club Tortimer members only)
  • Red Diving Suit (for Club Tortimer members only)
  • Striped Diving Suit (for Club Tortimer members only)
  • Pink Diving Suit (rare)
  • Orange Diving Suit (rare)

You can’t catch fish that you normally catch with a fishing rod while in the water. However, you can dive and chase shadows to catch deep sea creatures. You might also encounter Jellyfish while swimming. Jellyfish can not be caught, however, they can sting you pretty hard – if you touch a Jellyfish while swimming, you will stop for a couple of seconds.
