Mission A-1: Poltergust 5000 – Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon Walkthrough

Published on June 8th, 2013 by Jake S.

The game is Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon for the Nintendo 3DS and this is a walkthrough for the first level – Mission A-1: Poltergust 5000.

It is best to attempt this mission when you have the Strobulb with you.

First, walk through the gates ahead of you. They slam shut! After, flash the flowers and collect the dough and the gem that pops out. Vaccuum the blanket lying on the porch to your right to reveal three gold bars. Nab them, and go up the stairs to peer through the broken window. After the examination, try to open the door. Locked, right? Fortunately, the mouse next to you has the key. Unfortunately, he gains a distance before you can recover it. Run after the mouse and grab the key. Then use it to unlock the door.

At the entrance, hold ‘X’ and ‘R’ at the middle of the room to shake the chandelier. Money should pour out. Enter the garage (to your left) and inspect the jalopy. Tah-da! You found the Poltergust 5000. Answer the call, then vaccuum the blanket covering a treasure box at the corner of the room. Another key should appear. Before going back to the Entrance, use the Dark-Light device to uncover a lone wheel lying at the other corner of the room. Vaccuum up the resulting Spirit Balls, and a Boo should appear. Capture Boogie Woogie by shining the D.L.D. in its face, and vacuum its tongue until your Power Gauge is full. Head back, and vacuum the strange covering on the white wall. You should discover a door. Enter the room (the Mudroom). Hold ‘X’ and ‘R’ together again. The fan picks up speed, and another key should be revealed.

Roll up the carpet with your Poltergust, and you will find coins. After, use the Strobulb to flash the circular panel and gain access to the Mudroom Exterior. Go up to the tree in the very back and you will see another gem. Vacuum the gem into your possession using the “X + R” technique. Backtrack to the entrance and use the first key on the door in the back. A short cinematic will play, showing that the Strobulb is once again taken by ghosts. Run at full speed past the swinging knights and use the second key on the door at the end.

In the Foyer, walk up the stairs and go to the very end of the available path. Face the chandelier and vacuum. The chandelier will lower to the floor, but this is not permanent. Hurry downstairs and press ‘A’ in front of the Strobulb. Now that you have the Strobulb handy, use it to flash the circular panel to your right. Enter the Coatroom. The room is dark – ignore that. Vacuum the strip of hanging wallpaper besides the toilet to earn treasure, then use the toilet to get to the other side of the room.

Go back to the first half of the Coatroom, and try to leave. Oh no! You have to face a ghost first. Flash it with the Strobulb, and use the Poltergust 5000 to eliminate the paranormal activity in one shot. Don’t forget to collect the treasure. When the room is clear, leave. The Foyer is filled with ghosts. Use said technique to vacuum them up. You should get your three star ranking.
