The NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) is not the first console of Nintendo, however, it’s still the first one to be really popular selling more than all the previous consoles released in the few years. It also made Nintendo a king of the videogame industry, having almost no competition until the next generation.
Offered in the Wii with the Virtual Console, there was no reason to exclude it for the 3DS nor the Wii U, where some titles are most must-have than the actual console library.
PRO: The controls
Something I really love of the Wii U version is being able to set the buttons’ placement, where my main example would be Super Mario Bros. 3. There’s also support for two controllers like the original console, so playing with others is easy as hell.
PRO: The presentation
Need an explanation of the service? You don’t know how to play? Don’t worry, there’s a manual including all that information on every Virtual Console game.
PRO: Suspend Feature
If you exit the game, it will be suspended. This means once you open the game again, you will be able to start where you left off.
MIX: Save States
Another mention for the “restore point”, the save state feature of the emulation service. Meanwhile it’s pretty cool to go back if you made a mistake, it’s limited to just one state, and there’s no fast load or save function using the unused buttons.
MIX: Screen Display
Meanwhile it looks nice on both TV and Gamepad, there’s also two black lines below and above the screen, where it just look ugly.
CONCLUSION:
With better controls than the 3DS version, the Wii U service is a lot better if we consider the controls setting and the multiplayer features, so if you want to play with friends, or just play on a larger screen, this is the winning version.
