While Nintendo’s CEO Satoru Iwata said we wouldn’t get any details about the NX system until 2016, a Nikkei report says that Nintendo’s upcoming console may run on Google’s Android operating system. This may be an effort on Nintendo’s part to attract more third-party developers.
In March, Nintendo announced a partnership with DeNA to publish games from Nintendo franchises on smartphones, although fans were assured that Nintendo would be handling most of the development.
The NX was not announced as a successor to either the 3DS or the Wii U, and Nintendo’s new loyalty program aims to tie the 3DS, Wii U, NX, PC and smart devices together; this makes it seem more likely that the NX might be a ‘Nintendo smart device,’ although what it actually is remains anyone’s guess.
Which is why there’s no image to show.

Update (June 5th): A Nintendo spokesman has confirmed that the NX won’t run on Android. So there’s no info, concrete or otherwise, again.
