This Nintendo Direct was a good one for Square Enix fans. We learned that Dragon Quest VII and VIII were coming to western 3DS systems and got some details about Final Fantasy Explorers, but Nintendo saved the best for last: Cloud Strife, the protagonist of Final Fantasy VII and arguably Square Enix’s best-loved hero, is storming into battle for Super Smash Bros. for the 3DS and Wii U, complete with an Odin summon, limit breaks and an alternate outfit based on his appearance in the Advent Children film. There will also be a new stage based on Midgar. You can view the reveal trailer above.
There’s no word on when he’ll actually be available as DLC, but fans can expect it to be sooner rather than later.
