Sephiroth had told Sephieroth the story of how JENOVA came to the planet, and told her about their long lost Father JENBU and the mindless destructive fiend named SAKUI. She had learned why their Mother had so relentlessly tried to take over the planet, and why JENOVA Foundation had cameras in space and the skies of the planet despite their successful victory over the enemy. Learning of all of this, Sephieroth had learned that the struggle she and her brothers had gone through was far from over. SAKUI was out there somewhere, and she knew it. As long as he was alive, she knew rest was never truly assured. However, since Sephiroth rejected her proposal for a mission to find and defeat SAKUI and his evil race, she had been forced to drop the matter and return home to the Mako Reactor where JENOVA rested to meet with Yazoo.
Chapter 2: The WEAPON Experiments
(This section will focus on Sephieroth as the speaker) After i arrived back at the Mako Reactor, i immediately focused on visiting Mother on the top level of the place. Once id gotten there, i faced Mother and she smiled back at me. She was the first to speak "How did it go?" I sighed, then shrugged and said "It was fine, although im a bit heartbroken about the current state of the Forgotten City.... it was ransacked..." Mother stepped towards me, putting her hands on my shoulders and said "Im sorry about that, my child. But i know Sephiroth will focus on restoring it as top priority." I nodded in agreement, but didn't respond. I was trying to hide my feelings about Sephiroth refusing to let me chase after SAKUI and get back our Father JENBU. I didnt want him to get in trouble for telling me the story since he wasn't supposed to tell anyone about it. Mother placed her hands on my face, lifting my gaze to hers and said "Sephie... is something wrong? You seem out of sorts." I again remained silent but kept my gaze on Mother. She gently brushed her fingers through my long silver hair and said "Its about JENBU and SAKUI, isn't it?" Like always, she read right through me. There was never any real success hiding things from her. Mother had amazing skill in feeling the thoughts of others, especially her own children. There was no lying to her with any results or keeping things from her in any way. I replied to Mother and said "It is... i dont want to hide it from you, but i didn't want to get Big Brother in trouble for telling me about the whole thing... You see, i tried to get him to let me find Father and defeat SAKUI, but he bluntly refused... he said it had death written all over it." Mother spoke and said "Sephiroth doesn't want to lose you, Sephie. He also doesn't want to go back to space to challenge SAKUI." I replied and said "But why? If we just sit here looking at the stars like that, we wont be prepared for another intergalactical war! And if we arent prepared, what can we accomplish?" Mother spoke and said "I know, and youre right. Sephiroth wants JENBU back, Sephie. Thats why he was sad when he told you everything. But he's also been through a lot; enough that he wants to remain on this planet and forget about SAKUI--its his way of keeping my family safe. He does however have a valid point about challenging SAKUI being far more dangerous than anything youve ever faced. But as you said, if he isnt destroyed, those fears will control him forever and threaten our race." I sighed and stood silent for a long moment. I didn't want to leave this alone. I knew it would be impossible for me to sit back and ignore something this serious. I was the next to speak and said "Mother.... i don't expect you to answer this now, but.... i know Sephiroth is afraid of our race be exterminated a fourth time, but the only way to really prevent that is by defeating SAKUI and eradicate his race along with him. So please... let me do this, for a legacy worth beyond a fortune, and more than eons to come.... i ask your approval to take this final mission, Mother." Mother's eye seemed to glow a bit brighter, and she said "Are you sure you want to do this? This is more dangerous than the last mission to take over this planet. You will have to do this from start to finish, Sephieroth. Theres no escaping; SAKUI has units all across the cosmos, and you know what that means." I felt my expression harden; i knew i didn't have any idea what i was getting into. But i also knew i had to do it. After a long pause, i said "Mother.... I'll do it!" Mother smiled, and i saw tears stream from her eye. Mother gently stroked my face and said "Sephie... you are very brave. You have no idea how proud i am as your Mother and queen... to have someone with such an unending desire to risk everything to protect what matters most. Youve put your life on the line so many times.... and even still, you keep going no matter what the risk or danger of anything coming your way. That takes a lot, my child." I giggled and smiled back at Mother. Mother spoke again, and said "I wont have you go directly to space just yet, though. If youre going to have any shot at this mission, there is something i want you to do first before you venture into space..." I nodded in understanding, and listened in silence. Mother spoke and said "Do you remember your fight with Omega Weapon on the newly renamed JENOVA Munitions Tower?" I nodded in response, and Mother continued "You did defeat Omega, however it has made a return to my kingdom. I want you to capture Omega Weapon and Ultima Weapon instead of simply defeating them. You must capture them both--i need both of them." I grumbled a bit, then said "Aww man.... i barely defeated that thing! How am i supposed to take round 2..?" Mother smiled at me and said "You can do it, Sephieroth. I dont want you to fight it alone, though. Round up your gang and have Sephiroth join the fight as well. Be sure to tell him the mission has my approval since he declined before." I nodded then said "But why am i capturing a couple beasts for this mission, Mother? I dont get it..." Mother replied and said "New research has been gathered at JENOVA Foundation that will allow us to use them and create a fusion powerful beyond words. Since you have my cells inside of you, and youre powerful enough, we can seal that power inside of you. The way this works is by using the power of my cells to create a special connection that will force these beasts to merge with each other and become a single being. In order for that to be possible, i need someone powerful enough to stand up to these beasts and successfully capture them both. After they are fused, however, you will have to fight the new monster." I cried in shock and said "What?! Thats too powerful! What happens if we die in that battle..?" Mother giggled and said "Dont worry, Sephieroth. With the Infinite Reunion activated, you'll each be revived within just a few minutes. However, as you know, you'll have to chase after the new beast if you each fall midbattle.... you know what thats like." I sighed, but remained silent. Mother smiled at me and said "Dont worry, you can do it. I know you can!" I smiled back at Mother, and said "Alright, Mother--mission accepted! But a few more questions first... what was the reason for the WEAPON experiments?" Mother quickly replied and said "I was hoping to create something powerful enough to obliterate SAKUI with a single blast, on the occasion he should approach this planet and attempt to invade my kingdom. The previous WEAPON created by the humans who controlled the labs before we achieved victory wasnt strong enough to do that; nor was Omega or Ultima alone powerful enough. The human technology they had wasnt advanced enough to deal with something as dangerous as SAKUI which was the reason i had Sephiroth supervise and oversee the WEAPON experiments. This is why JENOVA Foundation was built and formed--to keep my kingdom safe from SAKUI. Although you and Sephiroth are the only ones aware of the true purpose of my foundation, there are many of my children employed there who happily help with research and experiments all designed to protect our race and my kingdom on this planet. As you can imagine, the enthusiasm my other children have for this job is very helpful with progress. They do the work because they love me and are devoted to me." Mother smiled and giggled a bit, and i nodded in agreement. Mother gently stroked my long silver hair, and said "It also is where you were cared for after the Infinite Reunion activation. Since the Forgotten City was too ravaged, you were taken there instead. As you know from Sephiroth, the Forgotten City is where JENOVA Paradise will be once the area is fixed and cleaned up. Theres too much rubble to revamp the area now, but it will be fixed with enough time." I stood in thoughtful silence, then said "Mother, who will be in charge of it once its done? Sephiroth cant do everything himself... the kingdom is too big." Mother smiled and said "Well, its your home, Sephieroth.... how would you like to be the guardian there?" I nodded happily in agreement, and Mother said "I knew youd be happy to do it. Im sure your brothers and sisters will happily visit too. But for now, get your gang together and contact Sephiroth about the WEAPON mission ive assigned you." I nodded in agreement and said "But Mother, what if he finds out about targeting SAKUI and rescuing Father? He wont be happy with me for going to you for approval when he already said no..." Mother replied and said "I know, Sephieroth. But he will have to accept that and cooperate, even if he is unhappy about it. As the Family Hero, you have enough authority to do things like that. Its your duty to keep my children and the kingdom safe, even if it means being faced with unspeakable danger or even death. Sephiroth knows that, but he doesn't want something to go wrong and lose you which is why he said no and reacted the way he did. He will have to accept all of this, Sephie.... even if it hurts. You know a threat like this should not be ignored, and you were right to say something to me." I nodded in understanding, then said "Alright, i'll find my brothers and get Big Brother too! I wont fail this mission either, Mother! I'll end these struggles forever!" Mother smiled back at me, and i turned around to head downstairs and find Yazoo. I found him on the ground floor, seeming to have just arrived here. He smiled at me sweetly, and said "Little Sister! I wondered where you went... i thought you left for JENOVA Foundation. Did something happen?" I replied, then said "Nothing yet, Brother Yazoo. But things are about to get hectic." Yazoo seemed confused, then said "What do you mean..?" I replied quickly and said "I'll explain later, but the struggle is far from over. We have to find Brother Loz and Young Brother Sulbio first. I'll explain the mission after that." Yazoo nodded, then said "Alright, im not sure whats going on, but i'll follow your lead like always." I then lead us out of the Mako Reactor, and we both got on our motorbikes, me leading the way like always as we took off and drove through Mother's kingdom. I suddenly realized this mission would be the most difficult and exhausting one yet; hopefully to be the last. That was how i began the quest to defeat SAKUI and rescue Father JENBU, and ultimately save our race from disaster and calamity once again.
