Destiny JENOVA III: Origins (Chapter 27: An Undying Spirit)

Previously...

After having a negative vision, JENOVA's lifestream began to well up in darkness in reaction to her pain. After learning of what happened, Sephiroth knew the only way to bring purity back to the JENOVA lifestream was to find out how to bring Sephieroth back to the Planet. When it all seemed to be over, things only got worse.

Chapter 27: An Undying Spirit

(This section will focus on Yazoo as the speaker) We were traveling the kingdom for what seemed like forever, all with no sign of Little Sister anywhere. Since she had somehow disappeared, I was the one leading Mother's guard until we found her. All three of us were riding our motorbikes for hours, but our Sister was nowhere to be found. Loz cried out "Brothers, stop! There's something over there!" We all slammed the brakes, quickly getting off and following Loz into a wide open space where a statue of Mother stood in the middle: JENOVA Square. There was something on the ground, and a golden colored materia directly beside it. We stopped, and I kneeled down to pick up the box and check it out before standing back up. Sulbio asked "What's in that, Brother?" I gently began opening it, but didn't open it completely; i quickly closed it back up without a word. I suddenly felt worry well up inside of me, and said "No... Sister..!" Loz retrieved the golden materia and said "This is Sister's materia she used to summon Perfect WEAPON! What is going on?" Sulbio added "Yazoo, what's in there?" I sighed, then turned around to face Sulbio. I answered "A high concentration of JENOVA cells." Sulbio cried "What? But that's impossible! Mother is alive!" I added "I know, but... I have a feeling these ones are Sephieroth's. If they really are, that means something went wrong and caused her to die in the process." Loz moaned in sorrow and said "No way... how are we going to tell Mother about this?" I replied "I think she already knows she died, my Brothers. That would explain why her lifestream darkened. She might feel hopeless and unable to think of how to get Sister back, but if we bring this to her I'm sure she'll feel much better." Sulbio asked "Will her lifestream regain its health and radiance if we do that?" I shook my head and said "This alone won't do it, but it will definitely prevent aggravating the darkness. That's better than it getting worse to the point Little Sister will be consumed by it and completely lose existence. We have to help Mother, Brothers. She can't do it without us." Loz seemed sad and said "We can't rely on Sister this time, either... she was the reason everything up to now worked... how can we do this without her?" I replied "We'll have to give it everything we've got, Loz. That's what she would want us to do. I have a feeling she deliberately left these remains to help us bring her back." Sulbio asked "What do you mean..?" I explained "The first larva of Sephiroth became whole by using Mother's remains, causing a second Reunion. Even though that one ended in failure thanks to our guest of honor, that's a hint on how to do this for her this time." Loz forced his tears aside and cried "Then let's do this already! She made endless sacrifices to protect Mother's legacy, and now its time for us to do something for her--and Mother." I smiled at Loz and said "That's more like it. We'd better hustle, though; before Mother's despair gets worse. I'll lead the way: we're setting a course for Mako Peak to help Mother and show this to her. Loz, I want you to hold on to that materia. I'll carry Sister's remains." Loz nodded in agreement, and all three of us got back on our motorbikes, driving to our next destination.

Meanwhile, Sephiroth and JENOVA were atop Mako Peak...

I cried "Stronger, Mother; as strong as you can!" Mother's red eye flashed, and silver light began returning to her being's radiance. I noticed her metallic wings beginning to slowly grow back. I smiled as I watched her relentlessly trying to break free of the pain that had previously consumed her. I glanced above at her lifestream, and saw it beginning to shine powerfully as it was supposed to; the darkness quickly withering into nothing. The ground began shaking, and I turned back to Mother who was still exerting all the strength she had to erase the pain and regain freedom. Now she was booming with silver radiance that grew blinding within seconds. Her expression showed strong defiance and determination to break free. Her lifestream grew all the more stronger, and I could feel a stinging sensation sweep over me before long. The darkness was no more, and Mother slowly began to calm down, her expression blank and a silver halo appearing above her head, followed several streams of silver light. After she relaxed, she glanced at me and smiled. I approached her and said "Are you ok, Mother?" She giggled but didn't speak. Her metallic wings returned, and she was in perfect health again. I began "Mother... I'm glad you're ok. Do you have any energy readings of anything Little Sister may have left behind before she died?" Mother paused, then said "Hmm... she did leave behind remains of her JENOVA cells, stored inside a small box, but I think Yazoo and the others already discovered them. They're heading here as we speak." I nodded and said "Good, at least they got them, but if they learn that she's dead..." Mother added "I know, but Yazoo already thinks something went wrong and also knows I'm aware of her death. All we have to do now is wait for him and the rest of guard to arrive." I nodded in understanding, and glanced high above and said "Hold on, my Sister... We'll bring you back to this Planet together. I promise..."
