Note: Almost all the kids are the same age and in the same grade. The only exceptions to this are Pearl, Jake, Emma, and Henry. Pearl, Emma, and Jake are 3rd graders while Henry is in 1st grade. The rest of the kids are in 2nd grade.
I guess the best way to start the story is to introduce Pinky. She is a very excitable, hyper, and outgoing. The first thing she did during recess at her new school was claim the jungle gym for a pirate adventure before spotting Dark and Henry playing alone. She instantly hopped down ran over and told them, "Join my crew! We're going on an adventure!"
They of course stared at her like she was nuts before glancing at each other. "I'll join if I can be the first mate" Dark told her and she beamed at him before dragging them both over to the jungle gym. That's how she made her first two friends.
The next day she met a girl named Katy who was kind of sickly so she wasn't at school often. This led to her being a bit anti-social and bookish. Pinky took one look at her, grabbed her hand, and dragged the smaller girl over to the two boys. "This is our new navigator!" she exclaimed with a cheerful smile.
Henry cheered and hugged Katy even though he had no idea what a navigator was. "Do you even know what that is?" Katy asked frowning at the other girl. "Nope!" Pinky said cheerfully as she led her 'crew' to the jungle gym.
Katy sighed before sitting down underneath the jungle gym and opening her newest book. Dark moved to climb up next to his captain as Henry joined Katy. A few minutes later their play was interrupted by a small voice: "What are you doing?"
"We're playing pirates! I'm the captain, Dark is the first mate, Henry is the cabin boy, and Katy is our new navigator!" Pinky told the girl who had asked the question.
"Oh...Can I play to?" she asked glancing down at the ground as her foot scuffed at the ground. Pinky hummed thoughtfully for a moment before nodding. "Yes! You'd make a great cook!" she declared with a grin before hopping down and shaking the girl's hand. "I'm Pinky. What's your name?" she asked.
"My name is Sammy. Do you think my big brother could join to?" she asked softly as she smiled at Pinky. "Of course! The more the merrier!" Pinky exclaimed.
Sammy nodded before running over to a large boy and talking to him. A minute or so later they were both headed over to the jungle gym. "This is my brother Jake. He doesn't talk much but he's good at solving problems." Sammy told Pinky.
"Welcome aboard, Doctor Jake! Your job is to ensure nobody gets hurt while we adventure!" Pinky told him with a bright smile. He nodded before moving to lean against a tree where he could keep an eye on all of the younger kids.
