Pokemon sword Solo Max Raid 5* Mayhem part 1

i had a hard time with end game max raids until i got a few pokemon to lv 100 and i just recently hyper trained my dragapult (which i named Drakie) as well for a main whenever i play and do these which is what i do post game. i normally like tanky pokemon but there is one small problem with this situation... no sorry, more like a very big and raid breaking problem this far in the game: the AI always dying quickly and repeatedly. i dont have time to heal more than twice because they make a billion stupid choices that almost always contribute nothing to the situation and im stuck doing all the real work. i think ferrothorn might be the better tank class because of iron barbs for raids, i dont know if leech seeds work on the strong pokemon here since i havent tried that yet. i know toxapex can badly poison most targets as well but again, special scenario that might make these ideas useless... so thats possibly two ideas out of the window.

im doing fine with most of these as of now mostly using my dragapult and he is a great barrier killer unless the enemy is a fairy type which not only makes the dynamax dragon rush conversion useless but his defense and special defense might put him in a dangerous spot, especially against a 5* hatterene (if i spelled it right). hatterene has calm mind and a fairy and psychic dynamax move so yeah, another NPC wiper right here. might actually need ferrothorn for this one, that one shots things way too easily. pretty sure one of my attempts on her had a triple wipe on the AI considering all 5* max raid targets get more than one move per turn (go home giga drednaw with your double rock slide and swords dance, talk about broken). the thing thats really stupid about 5* solo max raids is that the real problem is always the same thing: the AI dying too much too soon. this garbage issue seems to be making gigantamax drednaw more about luck than skill solo, as if he does a double rock slide regardless if swords dance was used, its almost guaranteed to double kill or worse, or triple wipe the NPCs altogether. salazzle cant take more than one hit from this apparently, and no matter what your target is solrock is always the most obvious sitting duck making him the most useless AI pokemon possible. he cant take enough hits here at all even with cosmic power and he almost never attacks.... and when he does he seems to miss all the time.

the wobbefet isnt great either because his attacks always seem to fail when used, most likely because counter doesnt work if he gets hit by a dynamax or G max move (apart from him not being hit at all in other cases of course). mirror coat doesnt seem to trigger enough either, and while he can take a good amount of hits, he ends up being the empty punching bag due to being almost completely unable to attack in various situations. well, at least he doesnt die fast like solrock i guess. then that leaves us with magikarp... he has a focus sash which isnt bad but it ends up being pointless when the enemy pokemon decides to single him out with that second move in one turn. his attacks rarely seem to do enough damage and only really good for reducing the barrier by one... assuming drednaw doesnt do a troll rock slide twice in a row or something that can otherwise beat him to it. so yeah, worst NPCs in the game right here in my opinion... wobbefet ranks #3 worst, solrock #1 and magikarp #2. solrock is number one because he either doesnt attack at all or he attacks as little as possible only to miss like every time.... for some reason. guess this is supposed to be a cosmic power fashion party and not a run for your lives ordeal to him. he does that move way too much never making use of it...

im going to farm my bottle caps with the digger guy and max raids, and hopefully beat the 5* giga drednaw more consistently solo... if that doesnt work then its definitely a game of luck beating him solo

the NPCs are programmed to do that not sure if they wanted to make it challenging or something or not

yes, i realize they didnt want them to be overpowered pokemon but in some of these situations theyre just downright useless. even after IV capping and fixing the natures on some of my pokemon there were a few of these that were really broken because of their poor computation/ programming and it was so bad to the point it became more about luck than skill. i do understand your point and it can suck sometimes losing just because of bad AI, thank you for reading and the feedback tho =P
