You could say the first generation of Pokemon is dominating the media again.Starter costumes coming to Super Mario Maker, movies being re-released in digital media and even the original Game Boy classics are heading back for Nintendo consoles with the 3DS Virtual Console later this month, all in celebration for it's 20th anniversary. The name has spread out to the society so quickly back in its popular infancy, that then the word was spoken and spread that we would be seeing a movie based on the anime. So,how are the Pokemons in here?
What's the beginning of it all is all connected to the birth of Mewtwo. The scientists were aiming to create the strongest Pokemon yet,and they just succeeded in doing so.However,Mewtwo sees the humans as a threat because they take control and use of him,and wonders about the fact regarding him being a clone of Mew from his fossil's DNA.Caused by the destructive anger,Mewtwo flees always from its secure capsule, destroys the research laboratory, and finds Giovanni offering him a proposal to improve his power even more than ever before.Of course,Giovanni betrays him later because he talks being Mewtwo's leader, doing all sort of no-good Team Rocket business, and then he escapes. On the other note, the trio Kango trio of Ash,Misty and Brock are invited to an island where there lies the greatest Pokemon trainer.Too bad though that there's a violent storm to make matters tough, and it happens this trainer is also be the most powerful Pokemon itself in person,Mewtwo. With the situation in hand, now Ash and the other trainers there have to stop Mewtwo from creating a war between Pokemons with and without trainers.
You know, that opening solely is pretty dark and soletary from what Pokemon usually is.Mewtwo's origins story is some of the more mature ones than most legendaries in the franchise's timeline as he is one of the only Pokemon genetically made by humans, and one to even go against said creators. With that, sometimes the situations will become tense all due to the legendary's actions. The nature and atmosphere still should be recognizable, just in a more serious tone, that's all.It still keeps the faifthuality to the show based on the actual games, and the team behind this feature movie made a good job on for what was initially considered a series's finale,I say.
Ok,to continue so to speak, this movie won't appeal to the whole general crowd just coming in fresh and new to the world of Pokemon for the most part.If that's something the critics who haven't all played the games have spoken yet, then surely they will not comprehend as well. But,for a general population of the franchise, there's a likely chance it works for them.I,for example, having grown with the anime like the other kids, liked it for its similar approach as the anime.Yet again, because this is a movie we're talking about,it also manages to hold some of the series's more serious scenes.Mewtwo almost strangles a trainer with his physic powers in this movie guys.Again, stuff happens in this movie.
So as said, the emotions and loyalty are there, and the movie also contains some other good traits, like with its animation and musical score.
Oh,and Mew.Just Mew man.Don't even try to resist,because it'll just be a self-chore it you do so.
For the protagonists, let me start with Mewtwo, because oh man,he certainly isn't here to play games. As he has his serious doubts and personal issues for the human race, his goal is to convince the trainer's Pokemon to be free, and he doesn't stop his goal until it's done. The legendary does realize what chaos he did later in what many would consider to be one of frachise's most tearing-up moments(It can be touching mates ).After watching the movie,I feel like wanting to main him in Super Smash Bros. 4 again.
For everyone else, you should be recognizing them if you watched the anime as a 90s kiddo.Ash is still the nice-hearted trainer who, like every trainer in the process, strives to be the best trainer in the world,Misty also keeps her individuality and conscious at steady, and Brock is another relatable fun guy who still likes Nurse Joy and Officer Jenny. They're relatively the same protagonists from the anime. There isn't necessarily anything new we didn't know about them before the movie arrived, but they're still familiar by all standards.I felt Giovanni was a bit miscast in the movie as he doesn't try to track Mewtwo down after the beggining and leave it be for the rest of the journey.I mean,he was being used to unoticbly help on Team Rocket's dirty tricks,so I thought he'd go for it and hunt the Pokemon down again.Oh well,he's still the Giovanni of before,so no real complaints here.
Essentialy, the cast still remains their usual selfs, and that's still good by all means as an advantage.
I had a better time with this movie than what I was expecting honestly.Yes,the critics might tell you the opposite reaction, but here's the catch:This movie was primarily made for those already fond to the games and/or anime. It's like judging a banana when you don't even have preference on fruit. As 'Mewtwo Strickes Back!' was back in the day,it is a pretty good replication of around 70 minutes from the phenomenon both the games and the show were.It was the start of more movies to come in the future, and this one would probably be the most popular out of them all.As far as I'm aware, there are almost just as many Pokemon movies are there are living years of the franchise's career(Ouch ).If you're planning on marathoning it all, just saying,it will take a while. For the most part,I see this as a decent run of you're up to it as a Pokemon fan.I mean,a trainer has to be in preparation for everything you know, and this entry should head you to a good start by the end of the day.

And the final verdict is:
