Recent news have pointed out to a 2018 release for a new Sonic movie made by Sony.Yet again,it is not the only time the hedgehog gets to do so.20 years beforehand,Sega's goody and speedy hedgehog has received a movie to call his own.How well does Sonic translates into movie though is a question that's about to be looked upon. :bookworm:

Sonic and Tails are having a nice time with their usual routine on an island shore, that is until the short free time is interrupted by an owl with a blind eye-sight,known as Old Man Owl,in a broken rocket that flees its way towards the direction of the island. He crash-lands unexpectedly with a message for the duo to visit the president's office from the Land of the Sky,but for some reason Dr.Robotnick(Little history,he's Dr.Eggman before he was called with this name instead, just putting it up here :pompus:) is there instead. It just happens that he caught the real president and his young daughter Sara as hostages, and then moves on to talking where he requests Sonic and Tails to exit the realm they're currently placed on,the Land of the Sky,to the opposite side known as the Land of Darkness.Robotnick gets to explaining of a supposed evil menace taking domain of the territory there, and his name is Metal Robotnick. At the same time, there's a secret machine project that's collecting data of Sonic's in order to operate like a blasted lightning madman of chaos shown at the beggining. Some with acknowledgement of the franchise will remember that machine from before as Metal Sonic.Of course, the mission remains to Sonic and his buddy Tails to keep the peace of the connection between the two sides of the world primarily.
I have to say,for a straight-to-VHS translation, the plot does fit in well with the tradition of Sonic's standards, and it would look like the writers wanted this to be loyal to the games from the hedgehog of blue, and I have to give them some sort of applause if that was the matter for this. :D

Relatively speaking, this movie,as it would be considered more of an OVA(descriptions means one or two anime episodes released directly to video),is relatively shorter than what expectations might await.Within just some matter of time, the final showdown with the main antagonist of the movie is there. That's not an issue to speak, because what we received is surpsingly solid. The animation of the movie, which looks like a lot of like Sonic CD's,is pretty good with decent character animation and some great running and battle scenes, along with nice music to follow the entire thing.Gripes existant here, the english dub voice acting wasn't necessarily comforting to my ears by first impressions(although I got used to it as it progressed),and there will be some brief times of comedy to spot, and it sometimes can take the movie to an awkward degree. It's maybe because I have watched the english version without the censorship, and I didn't even flipping know of that until I searched up the supposed changes. :bear:
So to talk, the presentation definetly feels welcoming for veterans after some getting used to the english casting and most of the comedy factors composed in here, and will most likely please audiences the way through.

There are a few characters to recognize here, still seen for their major characteristics.Sonic is the bolting fast light-hearted hero with motivation to such,Tails is the young mechanical genius fox he usually is,Knuckles is the strong digester echidna that for some reason wears one of them cowboy western hats, and Dr.Robotnick still remains the marvelously-mustached mad scientist who becomes comical from time to time.Though,Sara, the daughter of the president of the Land of Light,is a lot of weird things in a human-like package. One moment, she wants to literally finish Dr.Robotnick off,and the next she accepts him in the proposal of marriage.Easy forgivings I don't think is the reason why. She's just so confusing, which at her own cost, could also be remembered as being a bit annoying by the spectators.
But,as far as the profile group go,the characters are decent for Sonic standards. The classic games themselfs never had a story to be the main focus,so the adaptation shoudn't be blamed if no development is done, say for Metal Sonic and possibly Robotnick, although not in the sense you were wondering.Just giving you a warning. :bag:

Good ol' Sonic has his feet ready for the outside world of gaming and television. It's just 55 minutes of spectating the journey, sure, but the movie is filled with Sonic goodness for classic fans to specifically enjoy.'Sonic the Hedgehog Movie''s story is fully fast-paced and as faithful to the speedster as it could be,the presentation is fantastic, and generally decent and appealing to fans, although not as effective on newcomers, may I state this now. They'll have a fun time seeing the Sonic style adapted to what feels like a short anime, and I myself, having the guy with a little cabinet reserved since childhood, did like the effort. Now to wait for that 2018 movie...it better be good Sony.I'm watching you. :coffee:

And the final verdict is:
It's good!
