Pokeumans: Chapter 16

Chapter 16

"I've called you in here for something urgent." Xander was sitting across from Andy in his office. His computer was on, and the paper Andy first saw Xander marking on his first day were laid across the desk. "After reading the document, I have come to the conclusion that the cosmic power that Pokextinction was extracting was just a side operation. Their real operation was listed here."

He turned the computer monitor to Andy. "I've highlighted the parts that are important. Everything else was just a briefing on the Jirachi operation. I also learned that every Pokextinction worker that is human is really a clone. Because of some malfunction due to weather in this part of the U.S, the cloning process malfunctioned and so clones, erm...turn to white ashes when killed."

Andy leaned in and identified the highlighted text.

"...as we know, Mr. X is an energy channeler...came up with a new idea besides harnessing the power of Xerneas and Yveltal...Time Gears to use to navigate into the Pokemon world...theories state more advanced technology there...Time Gears become amplified, giving the user control over...most notably, Time and Space."

Andy got confused a moment.

"So, wait, Energy Channeling? What in the world...?"

"That's what I thought, too. After some research, I discovered that this power and suck the energy out of one living thing. So, that means that Mr. X has the power of Xerneas and Yveltal. He can give or take energy to such a degree that he can extract souls." Andy shuddered. He defineately didn't want to meet this guy in a dark alley. "Luckily, however, I hear someone else is on his case, so we shouldn't worry too much."

"Okay, so Time Gears is another thing that caught my interest. Do they mean the Time Gears from Explorers of Time, Darkness and Sky?"

"Yep. They do in fact exist. They behave the same way, too. Luckily, however, there is a loophole to the whole "no gear no time" dilemma. You see, you can compare the Gears to a flash drive. If you rip the drive out of the computer, it will cause problems with both ends. However, if ejected the proper way, no harm will be done to either of them."

"But why are you telling me all this?"

"Because it is important for you. I know it goes against all PRT regulations to send fresh meat like you in, but I don't really have a choice. Something tells me that I need to send you and a crack-team off to retrieve them."

Andy could not help but feel a tad bit bewildered and kind of scared at all of this. However, this was the kind of thing he was trained to do! He had to help out with this dire situation.

"Okay, I will do my best. Got any instructions?"

"Yeah. First, take this with you." Xander handed Andy the large sheet of paper on his desk. He saw marked locations on different continents. This wasn't just a trek around the States. This was a trek around the world! "This is where you will find each Time Gears. Notice how I've marked my recommended order of retrieval. You can follow these if you want, but go with whatever order you choose."

"Second, you will want this." He held up Andy's backpack. He noticed how it looked more full than usual. "It's filled with all kinds of tools to help your journey. I've got three more backpacks, so there will be one for each member."

"Lastly, this will help you locate the precise location of the Gears." He held up a charm with a miniature version of a Time Gear off of it. "This charm will help you find the place of the Gears. You see, if you tried using Aura to find the Gears, you will find that it is impossible. However, this charm will gather the Gear's aura in a kind of path. When it lights up, use the Aura and you will find a path to it."

Andy strapped it on around his neck.. It felt nice, but not girly at the same time. It was like Sora's crown necklace from Kingdom Hearts, but with a Time Gear mini instead of a crown.

"If you don't mind, I've already picked your team for you."

"Really? Who?"

"You, Claire, West, and...Josh."

"Josh? The Weavile?"

"Is there a problem?"

"Not much. He sure is a tough nut to crack, though."

"Yeah, he is, but he is very diligent in his training and skill. After this, you two might become great friends at best, or mild acquaintances."

"Alright."

"Sweet! Well, normally I'd say 'Let me know when you're ready!' but because this is kinda urgent, I need you guys out tomorrow morning. Think you could tell West and Claire that?"

"Yeah, I guess."

"Great! I'll let Josh know right now. You guys get ready."

"Okay."

"Woah?! Really?!" West and Claire cried out in unison. "That's awesome!"

"I can't wait! Maldives is a location on the map! Oh, I've always wanted to go to Maldives!" West shouted with glee.

"Skellig Michael is here, too! Ireland is such an adventurous place, and Michael is no exception!" Claire squealed.

"I know, right?! However, This isn't very much of a vacation, but heck, we've got a rad adventure plan laid out!"

When everyone calmed down, they became serious and looked over the map.

Andy scanned it. "Alright, so, by order that Xander wrote on here, we first go to Antarctica, then Australia, Russia, China, London, Maldives, Ireland, and finally, Utah." Each discussed the locations and how they think they would fare at each. They dreaded going to Antarctica, but they decided that getting the hardest done first would make the journey more tolerable.

Then they decided to check their resources. Each got a pecular looking earpiece. After poking around with it, they found out that it is a language translator. How it worked was that when a person that spoke one language talks to you, you would hear it in your first language. Then, you can speak your first language into the earpiece, and it will translate into the other guy's language, and it will be voiced to the other guy.

Next was a portable ATM. Andy could tell that this journey would not be easy on the wallet, but because of Pokeuman technology, this little doodad would cover all of their expenses.

Some of the other items looked member specific. In West's backpack, there was some machinery and tools that he seemed to know very much about. Claire had a stock of restorative items, and Andy had some kind of case for the gears he collected.

They also checked each pocket. One had a phone for each person, the other was like a mini-fridge, and others seemed to be literal ovens for baking things.

After they had completely left no pocket unturned, they found that they were about to miss dinner, and needed to get down to the mess hall quickly. They did so, and returned to say their goodbyes to Lucy, who was still stuck on the floor, but seemed to have a good time watching people battle.

Andy lay on his bed. Holy cow! This is going to be great! He bid everyone good night, went to sleep.

He found himself standing on the middle of the plains again, just like the dream he had the first time, before he got the red eyes. Instead of waking up almost instantly like he did before, he stayed for a longer time.

"Woah! Where...is this a dream?" He looked around. If he didn't know any better, he would've thought he was catapulted to a faraway place not marked on the map. But since he knew that wasn't true, he thought it would hurt to look around.

Over the hillside, he found that there was actually a beach that laid down from the hill he stood on. The water on that beach was blue-green, and see-through. There was a dock, as well has houses that extended into the water. Their supports were stable, and there was a bride connecting everyone's house, quite similarly to Humilau city from Pokemon Black 2 and White 2. He turned around and found an old chapel-ish temple-ish building that looked like it was crumbling, similar to the old structures from Ireland. Before he could really investigate either of them, he was blinded by a light.

And he woke up.
