Radical Review: Mother 3

Mother 3 once drove me to insane ends in my life so I am warning anyone who dares to know the lore right now if you have a fainting heart thou shalt not read-eth any further.

Heroes
Lucas
Boney (Lucas's dog)
Flint (Lucas's father)

Villains
Porky (gives a Piggy from The Lord of the Flies vibe)
Pigmask Army

Leder is Nebuchadnezzar. Both are tall and skinny (or at least in reference Nebuchadnezzar was an oddly tall person who had an odd image hence he was worshiped. Leder on the other hand was an intelligent guy who was enslaved by the Pigmask army perhaps for the fear of a mutiny.

Mother 3 includes a few weird homos. Mother 3 also has an oddly dark vibe in an absurdly colorful game.

Mother 3 is about the country folk vs industry and dictatorship. New Pork City is a stage in Super Smash Bros. Brawl is basically a spin on the name New York City and it appears at around the end of Mother 3 for those not familiar to the game. Lucas is shy perhaps because he is afraid or traumatized by the experiments the Pigmask army has set up (where Pigmasks want to turn animals into cyborgs). It is truly an untimely battle between nature and politics.

This one game gives the player the chance to see three different perspectives. Lucas the innocent, Duster the guilty, and Fassad the one governing ruler of the island. Porky just comes in for not a very good reason and therefore suffers a strange fate at the end I won't give away because of spoilers.

Mother 3 is a Japanese nationalist game meaning it praises Japanese culture and makes America seem like an overly industrial mess. The flowers Lucas's mom, Hinawa, likes are sunflowers. I can compare sunflowers to tall buildings in Japan. When you have too many planted together some of the flowers may fall but if they are planted in the certain amount of space away you get a sunflower utopia. That's my view on it anyways.

If I wasn't so caught up in the details I'd say this game was great. But thinking about it now there was a good reason this game was never released to the American audience not only because it's hard to translate but no one would live a very prosperous life if someone were to play it in their childhood like yours truly.

I could say more but I would be afraid to. I give this game a Mature rating as well as an 8 out of 10.

Interesting. Honestly, Mature is a little much. While Mother 3 certainly has some dark content, I don't feel mature is exactly right for it. I'd honestly say Teen at the most. I don't feel the ideas and messages it's trying to send are too mature; they're pretty simple to understand. And the graphics aren't chilling enough to raise the rating, along with the writing.
Honestly, I don't feel like this game it too Anti-American and Pro-Japan. While New Pork City is named after New York, it's too much of a generalized urban area to just say it's making fun of America, considering there's also large urban areas in Japan too. There are also a lot of rural, unindustrialized areas in the US too IE. literally the entire Midwest. While I can't speak for the author, and it may be a little of what you said, I don't feel anti-america pro-japan was the message attempting to be conyeyed.
TBH, I would give this game to a child. No one younger than 8 but past that, I feel they would love the game and might actually understand it. It's a beautiful story with lovely characters and a conflict that can be viewed upon in multiple ways. And if it were translated to English and released officially in America, I would buy copies for most my good friends.
Then again I just really love Mother 3, so maybe my views of criticisms against it are a little biased. Either way, I liked reading this. It was nice.
Well if Nintendo were to remove the cussing in it then it could probably be E10+
