Agreed. I don't understand the bit about it being better for kids because when I was a kid, I didn't go around opening my GBA SP as far as it could go nonstop to break the hinges. In fact, I still have mine and it works just fine. If you're worried about your kid breaking the hinges on a 3DS well, then your kid is probably too young to be playing the games for it. 3D option can always be turned off, too. I personally never use it because it bothers my eyes. The only pro to the 2DS that I see is that it's $30 cheaper. Other than that, I think it's pretty ugly/pointless.It doesn't look the best and to be honest I think it just looks like another poor attempt by Nintendo to create more revenue
I think it's nice for the kids, but kind of made Nintendo look bad on giving up on 3D so quickly.
While it leaves the screens unprotected, it's much better built, meaning the console itself is much less likelly to break. The 2DS appeals to a certain demographic, and I don't think it's a bad idea. It will save Nintendo some money (from having to produce 3D displays) and will save the customer money. It does have an unusual design that seems fragile (considering there's no protection for the screens) but looks like it has a solid build quality. I guess if anyone had a small budget and didn't care about 2D, then the 2DS is for them.
