Are Nintendo running out of ideas with Pokemon?

I agree completely with what BjFauble said, it's ridiculous to have a list of 20 Pokemon and have all the members of the Klinklang or Vanilluxe line take up separate spots.

Also, they show an obvious bias against later generations. You can't say Pokemon like Luvdisc, Bronzong, and Chandelure are less creative than Electrode or Muk (both of whom I do actually like). Looks to me like a Genwunner found a job at the Huffington Post.

Lets think outside of the box for a sec. What if Gen 1 Pokemons are the "new" pokemons? What would people think about the Pokemons there? "Oh look a bunch of eggs and its a Pokemon? Lame! " "An egg that turns into a coconut tree?" A mutated Pokeball that evolves into an upsidedown pokeball? Game Freak runs out of ideas..." I'm assuming that people today will think of Gen 1 pokes if they're the "new gen 6 Pokemons". lol

I mean, it's a matter of opinion whether they look good or not, what you consider creative, might be different than someone else's opinion. All of these later gens are getting crap, while everyone defends gen 1 which had a purple rat in it, a pile of sludge, and a pokeball with eyes. Sure, later gens have quite crappy pokemon, but I find some peoples opinions very bias towards later gen on this subject.
Most pokemon are based of something, whether it not be an animal or object anyways, even though those aren't as obvious.

I think you summed up the changes pretty nicely. My main issue with some of these games is that they introduce minor changes rather than major ones. I'm not someone who wants change for the sake of change, but I also get bored (don't kill me) of playing the same adventure again and again. I really hope to see a game that makes the whole story more interesting and less generic than it already is. I've also noticed that a lot of these changes are mainly to battle mechanics though more than anything else.
That's the case with Gamefreak. They change battle mechanics to make the game more interesting, whereas you could change a LOT more things to improve player experience. They could introduce more sidequests, which would improve over the course of the storyline. One thing I would like added is the ability to get different endings based on the actions you choose throughout the game.

Perhaps, however I like the designs for Gen 6 and the Megas because they are really trying to make changes and it's hard to make new models and come up with new ideas because they still need the same battle system and move programmings to stay the same in order for the games to be compatible. Sure a lot of stuff is recycled like base stats, Gen 5 music, and items, however for something to appeal to all audiences it must be user friendly and it must not be gimmicky but kid friendly however all the games have had their minigames like the Game Corner, Contests, Super Training/Amie, and Broadway shows. I think they are trying their best to keep things new however it still might not add up when they are near a deadline and they want more in the story but might not be able to since all good games have endings too and even though Pokemon has replay value there are the few that might want a longer story.

No of course they are not out of ideias, the problem is what ideias gamefreak should use in the game, they want to use pokemon that have a strong meaning and in the process of creating the pokemon they generalize it a lot in terms of design etc, result: it looks strange to others but that is normal, pokemon with no deep meaning are actually the ones everyone like , charizard and etc, im sure this the point of the author.
