Gen 6 Are Shiny Pokemons still special?

As stated, are Shiny Pokemons still special? To be honest, shiny Pokemon isn't worth bragging anymore. Shiny Pokemons are everywhere these days and they're not as special as back then. Seeing a shiny Pokemon in the second and third gen of Pokemon feels a lot more special since its harder to spot one, let alone receiving it as a starter or hatching one as an egg. Long story short, Shiny Pokemons are not special anymore because of the abundance of it. Ironically, spotting regular Pokemon without a single shiny Pokemon in a team is rare to be honest. I'm rather picky when it comes to shiny Pokemons and am only looking for a few of them that matches my taste lol

"When everyone's special, no one will be..."

What about you guys? Do you think Shiny Pokemons are still special?

Honestly, Shiny Pokémons are no longer what they used to be since the apparition of cheats and save-modifying tools. I mean, back during Gen 3 and 2, when I saw my first shiny Pokémon (I don't recall what it was, but I caught it in the Safari Zone), I was like "What's going on, what's this ? I need it!". Now, when I see a Shiny Pokémon, I'm like "Okay, just another shiny..."

So, yes, I think Shiny Pokémon lost what made them unique: their rarity, and they barely worth more than their normal forms to me.

They're...less valuable now. Unless they have perfect IVs, and special moves. Obviously.

I still think they are special because I have 5 Pokemon games covering 3 Gens with over 2000 wild encounters in each game...
And I have only found one wild shiny Pokemon... And it killed itself with memento.

I think shinies are still special especially if you didn't cheat to get it. I do think that shinies are so much easier to get now a day by using the dexnav, masuda method, and chain fishing

I think they're special, just not as much as before. People just use Powersaves and make all of their pokemon shiny. I usually keep mine the way the are, unless they look ugly.

I agree with almost everyone on here. I still get surprised when I see shiny, but I know there are people that gen it out there, and for the people that get them legitimately, it's a shame, cause everyone thinks you genned it. That's why I like how you can only trade shines under your OT/ID it helps keep shines rare (am i right)

After seeing them every other Passerby/Battle Spot battle I did on Y, I don't see them as special anymore. Doesn't change the fact that some of them still look awesome. Shiny Greninja and Mega Gengar being one of those cool looking ones :D

Shiny Pokémon aren't really much because their the same Pokémon just with a different colour but some Pokémon look awesome when their shiny. No matter what green shinies will always be the worst shinies ever.Other than catching horrible natured Pokémon you could breed for the right ivs. Some people are CRAZY for shinies. That's all I see on the PSS whenever I connect to the Internet.

Shiny Pokemon are special, but not that special now because there are ways to chain for shinies, it becomes a little bit too easy, to get one, therefore loosing their true value, but of course, there is that one competitive guy with a shiny Pachirisu with 6 perfect IV's

Of course, it's all in the eye of the beholder. They are more accessible, that's for sure. But does the accessibility of something really completely determine it's value? Of course it's a little bit supply and demand-oriented, and to be fair, there's a surplus of them.

But it's like diamonds, really. There's a surplus of diamonds, still people pay big bucks for them because they have a special connotation. It can still take long to breed a shiny, and they are still a bit more je-ne-sais-pas than normally schemed pokemon.

Now, those monochrome pokemon *low whistle* (Except that it's too bad they aren't real, though)

Shiny Pokemon are generally not really special anymore due to the fact that finding or hatching one is now becoming more easier nowadays with all that Shiny Charm and stuff , also , many people now found ways to hack and generate shiny Pokemons . It really did used to be something cool :(

I think they aren't special anymore because everybody hacks nowadays, and you usually can't tell if it is hacked or not :( People that use Shiny Charm and Hatching or PokeRadar are really cool and preserevent to keep breeding just ot get an alternative version and inverted color of a Pokemon :/

I think Shinies are special because you just gotta believe it's special. Another reason why it's specail because when ever I put a shiny in the GTS I alway get what I want in a day, it's what I do to complete my pokedex. I also got a event keldeo 6iv competitive in the GTS.. I didn't think it was even possible. Also if you want your shiny to be more special, it needs to be a special attacker.

In my opinion it's up to each player whether they think they're special or not . I still feel accomplished whenever I find or hatch a shiny Pokémon, because I know I found them through legitimate ways. Even if the chances of finding them rose dramatically in Gen VI, I really can't describe in words how I felt when I hatched my shiny 5IV Honedge, 5IV Contrary Snivy with the Hidden Power type I wanted and the recently hatched 5IV Prankster Sableye. Of course finding a shiny in earlier games feels even better, I mean, not too long ago I found a shiny Zubat in Emerald and the only Poké Ball I had on me was the Master Ball and I decided to waste it on it, I even went through the trouble of transferring it up to Gen VI. Ironically, I found a shiny Zubat in Omega Ruby while EV training on the same day (with Shiny Charm) xD

I really don't think so that shiny are any more special as many people get shiny from hacking and power saver which totally ruins the game but i use shiny charm +masuda method with 6iv ditto to get shiny

Its not exactly like that. Its still worth bragging. Though they made it more common by adding shiny charm, chaining and more. shinies r also good for pokedex registrations. Plus they look awesome in the 3d screen :D

I still think Shiny Pokemon are special. Do you know how much effort you still have to put in just to get one of them? It's not easy for me to get one, even through the Masuda method.

It depends on the player. In my opinion, shinies are special because you caught it or hatched it legitmatly and you should feel proud of yourself of ever hatching one. Right now, people are using either PowerSaves,Action Replays, cloning, hacking, using qr codes to get themselves events legends (Like victini) or shinies.

Don't get so hard on yourselves. You caught/hatched the shiny legitmatly and you should look on the bright side.

All of us here had put effort to get shinies(like soft resetting to get a cool shiny pokemon) and all of us shouldnt care about other people hacking as it is not worth it,even if we get into an arguement that is not going to change the fact that person is using selfish means to get one.

Back in older generations ,as everyone said...ever catching a shiny is like Paradise, you get the bragging rights of how you got a shiny!

Nintendo is being unfair to us by giving away the Shiny Beldum after ORAS was released...they should have an event where you CAN find the event Pokemon instead of gifts, like the Eon Ticket to Latias if you're playing Omega Ruby or Latios in Alpha Sapphire.
Still, everyone is happy about the Shiny Beldum.

Lemme make this short...

Look on the bright side everyone, do not let fate or others control you. You control your fate and that is that.

Cheers :D

I would say it's a very personal thing. If I see a shiny, I'm pretty hyped about it mostly because I've never seen one in the single player portion of the game though I've played every game since the original. Seeing people farm shinies though is a lot like gold farming in WoW, if they have fun with it all good for them but so utterly pointless to me

Shinies are still very special and usually, if someone saw one randomly in the wild they would scream in delight (if they knew what a shiny was). However, they have decreased in worth over the years, thanks to hackers who can make shiny Pokemon using whatever weird methods they have (Powersaves, QR Codes, dunno about the others :/) It's a shame on those who caught them legitimately, plus Game Freak are clearly cracking down on the problem - the hackers still continue to find loopholes and obtain shinies. ;_;

It's not just that, but the shiny encounter rate has risen since Gen III and new methods such as PokeRadar and Masuda Method have become possible, and also much easier since previous Generations - they may not be as special as they once were, but people are still trying hard to hatch/find them, so they still have a 'uniqueness' that I hope will stay.
