Erm...42 degrees might be enough to damage the console but that is pretty hot. (It is the temperature that your blood starts to clutter at. D: )

most smart phones during heavy games get just as hot or even hotter with no problems. the inside of the switch is mostly metal , that temp wont hurt those components.

Did some digging. Yes your smartphone can go above 40 degrees if pushed to the limit (aka heavy games) but doing that often is a killer for your battery life. Permanently. And that is with all sorts of securities fully functioning. :-/ (But yeah, you'll need a lot more heat before a Switch starts to bend.)
