Please vote in the poll. Thanks!

I spend less money with it gone (in the future with more activity, it'll cost a lot more) but don't let it be the reason to vote to have it removed. If you enjoy using it, I don't mind spending the money.

Edit: I also added the option to have it replaced with a shoutbox that has rooms.

Yes it was (stop sniping me @Marc). However, as I see it between Private Messaging and the Shoutbox I found it quite obsolete. The appeal is good but I feel like the money could be put to better use. That could just be me since I never used it, so I too am curious as too others opinions on this. I just think something better could be accomplished as I see Private Messages better in almost every way.

Could you explain a SB with rooms?

Personally to me, live chat was a nice way of live chatting personally to people which is a plus over Private Messages. That's not to say that Private Messages are useless, far from it. They are still functionally useful for doing the same thing, just not live. It comes down to preference I suppose. Although that being said it would be great if there were a member's Last Read Date on the Private Messages so we know if they've been checked.

As a feature live chat is great, but if it helps your situation any I wouldn't mind it being nixed even temporarily until your situation is stable enough to handle it.

marc you know how much i use it to talk to you ,_,

What live chat? You mean the SB? Isn't it already there..?

People who ask what the live chat is probably never noticed it gone (or used it for that matter).

Personally, I never used it that much so I voted for shoutbox with ROOMs instead because the money could be put to better use with it considering we already have Private Messaging. Sure, PMs don't function the exact same way live chat does but the messages are recorded. As the previous user have said, maybe have a last date read function implemented; that would be cool and helpful.

Even though I used it rarely, at times my friends wanted to talk to me via live chat, so I wanted it to be back if possible.

I rarely ever used the live chat function. When I did it was usually for getting peoples' attention for a Pokemon trade.

As for the Shout Box with ROOMS option (which I voted for), I think I would use that more often than live chat or a generic Shout Box where everything is discussed. I think the ROOMS idea could have topics similar to the forums, but not as specific. Some broad topics could include examples of Pokemon, Fire Emblem, Mario Kart, Animal Crossing and etc. Only a suggestion.

For monitoring/moderating multiple Shout Boxes, I was thinking the Shout Boxes could have a Report button that would take a screen shot of the conversation in question, so the screen shot could be reviewed at a later time (in case there wasn't a mod or admin online at that time to be notified immediately).

I also, think the ROOMS could be more useful to newer members who don't know anyone yet or how the forums work. Newer members could get to know the community and get a quick answer rather than waiting for a post that takes a while to be answered or never answered because it got put in the wrong forum, buried in other posts and etc. May be this way the forum could have fewer new members leave because they were new and didn't get an answer or help to a problem they encountered, thus feeling less discouraged and stay.

Only some ideas and ramblings, thanks for reading!

I stronly prefer PMs and the SB. The live chat drove me mad. Some people send three words per message, which mean that as soon as I opened the Pedia my PC started making those 'ping' sounds like crazy.

If anything I prefer a SB with rooms. Less invasive.

I found the live chat very useful. It's an easy way to get in contact for "right here, right now" situations. I frequently use it to complete orders from customers instead of sending a PM and hoping they see it and reply within a certain time frame. It's also useful for those urgent matters where you need a reply. While the popping noise can get slightly annoying at times, I still think it is very useful to get someone's attention. Having a shoutbox with rooms would be a little less helpful for me because I'm a multitasker, and having to stop what I'm doing to see if someone I need to talk to is in the shoutbox or any of it's rooms will most likely become very tedious. Also, on less active days, having a bunch of empty shoutbox rooms may make Pedia seem less active than it really is, and may drive potential permanent members away. That's just my opinion on the matter, though. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Perhaps we could add a feature whereby mentioning someone in the shoutbox with @ (e.g. @Marc) would ping them with that sound and let them know somebody's there. If the person is offline it'll throw up a message back to the member who mentioned.

I use the live chat quite often, I prefer it over PM's personally. Live chat can be incredibly useful though for multiple reasons.

Like @Pandaxclone2 said just above, being able to ping someone in the SB might be cool as well as having rooms there too, depending on how you do it. As @Leviathinian said, a bunch of empty rooms wouldn't look good to new members, as well as the fact that it'd be multiple conversations spread out across multiple rooms so it could get confusing.

I think the Shoutbox would suffice.

Due to the fact I'm am mostly mobile, I never use the live chat feature I'd rather have a sb with rooms so that we arnt fight for a supreme topic over the rest.
