I retract my above reply.

In a scenario in which Sonys gaming division spouts out enough money to buy Capcom, great. Mega Man as an exclusive on PS Vita would be fantastic. But that's it. Sony doesn't really reinvent franchises and they don't have to, but for them to buy Capcom and have it be worth it, they're going to need to learn how to change an established franchise.

If Microsoft buys Capcom, my god. I'm passed the whole Rare fiasco - but if they screw up Capcom, one of the most well known developers of all time, everyone is going to be annoyed. As hell. Really for Microsoft to buy them, they'd be taking a HUGE financial risk and really, I don't see them doing anything with Capcoms IPs.

Activision would just spam Resident Evil DLC, EA would just spam Street Fighter and Resident Evil games yearly, Ubisoft would just keep Capcom going at the same pace as they've been going, and Namco, I don't even know what to say about Namco. They make Pac Man games yearly so idec.

If Nintendo misses this opportunity to show gamers that they aren't just a company for kids, they're going to be missing the biggest opportunity they've had in a LONG time. Nintendo is great when their backs are pushed against the wall and buying Capcom would only make people expect more of them, which is what Nintendo needs. Nintendo NEEDS people to expect more than Mario from them.

or no one will buy them and all their ips will just die lulz

Nintendo. Capcom is the push it needs to get ahead in today's market. Other than that, Sega/Bandai Namco. Really, though, if Nintendo misses this opportunity, they may go under down the line. :( Nintendo/Capcom needs to happen.

Nintendo sorely needs some new games outside of Mario and Zelda. Capcom would give them some great IPs, iconic characters, and a talented company which could really expand Nintendo's repertoire of games. In fact, Capcom might be able to turn around the slumping progress of the Wii U by making some exclusives for it.
