I know that there are a lot of people who don't need any competitive help, but there are some people who want to be competitive, but don't have the full grasp on the concept. If you have any questions on how to play competitively, how to find a main, or anything else, just ask, and I'll get to you shortly.

Oh this seems cool, I've got one
So I'm trying to play competitively with yoshi.
I was wondering which of yoshi's grabs is the best set up for a combo?
I try to throw them down and they bounce into the air but when i try to hit them they always seem to land diagonally in another direction. Any way to get some damage into them while they're still in the air?

I tried out some combos with Yoshi and as it turns out, you can use any air except neutral air after a down throw, it just requires a bit of reading the opponent's movements.

You know , I have been wondering on how to main Pikachu , are there any tips or combos that I can use ? I always can't seem to make use of his move sets correctly so I'd really appreciate some tips or strategies . Oh yeah and also for Link because he leaves himself open a lot so I need tips on that >.>

For Pikachu, using thunder and thunderbolt are the keys to victory. Using thunderbolt as an edge guarding strategy works well, and thunder is a good lead after an up throw. Neutral and up airs are good for ledge guarding as well.

For Link, if you're good enough you can use the first hit of forward smash as a bait for the second one. Also, try not to use smash attacks or specials too much. They make you predictable. Also, try to use back airs or neutral airs for edge guarding.

Hope I helped.

2 things I forgot to add. First, don't mix your recovery up with Link, use your up B sometimes, use your grab sometimes. Also, if someone's trying to go for a ledge jump or recovering from below, use your down air. BUT MAKE SURE IT LANDS, it's somewhat risky and you can get screwed over if you miss.

yes
ive been practicing yoshis grabs and i think ive mastered it.
Ive played a few for glorys and lost only once.
Thanks Derpguy64

I would definitely like to learn to use Lucario better. I get that his Aura mechanic is returning from Brawl, and he can be a true powerhouse with Aura and Rage. My main issue with Lucario is his speed and cool-down lag. His speed was noticeably reduced since Brawl, and I am finding it very difficult to set up good combos with this reduced speed and added cool-down lag. I do recognize that he is definitely more powerful than in his previous outing, but I would appreciate more information of how good combos can be set up with him.

You're in luck! I main Lucario, and I can give you great ideas for combos and teching ideas.

• A good opening combo is D-Throw->Jump->F-Air->Midair Jump->U-Air->D-Air on the way down.
• Lucario's D-Air stops Lucario when used, so use this as a mixup tactic.
• Using Extreme Speed at a 45 to 90 degree angle reduces cooldown lag.
• Extreme Speed can hit at the end of the travel, and is good at escaping.
• Charge Aura Sphere at an edge to use as an edge guard.
• Force Palm has great range, use it for mindgames.
• A good finishing combo is U-Tilt->U-Air.
• Aura is obviously a great thing.
• Extreme Speed is also effected by Aura.
• U-Throw and D-Throw can chain grab.

Hope this helps!

And his force palm grabs the foe if in grabbing range
Plus while he grabs, he can hit the foe very rapidly quickly building up damage
[Remember to taunt after annihalating your oponent]

Yes, I know about the Force Palm grab, but it has a bit of starting lag to it, so I don't try to use it as a competitive tactic in-game.

i've been wondering if there were any ways to help with the ending lag on most of shulk's moves. it's basically the only problem i have with him as my main .-.

Sorry to let you down, but there's no way. The only recommendation I have is to use Smashes sparingly.

Well, I'd only use Footstool Jumping when you're trying to gimp, but to do it, just make sure you're right above your opponent, literally in contact with your opponent, when you jump, and practice against the computer, they're a little more predictable in some cases, but not with recovery. Just practice until you nail it every time. That's pretty much all I have to say, since I don't really do it that much.

But have you ever tried footstooling in a true combo?
